My crafters have a books full of junk recipes. My spell book is full of abilities that aren't ever needed after trade level 20. It would be so easy to get started if you could just choose a craft and only deal with it from the start. They made the change for adventure classes, why not for trade classes? The initial quest is enough to get you to level 10 and could be redone to not leave all the junk behind. It was fun being able to be self sufficient during tier 1 on a new character but that doesn't seem to be worth all the mess it creates.

![]() I rather like the current tradeskill progression and hope it doesn't go away. Knowing that my alchemist can make all of my new character's spells/combat arts and jewelry up to level 19, or that my weaponsmith can make all of my new cahracter's bags, armor and weapons up to lvl 19, or that my provisioner can make any bows totems, etc up to lvl 19... Even in the second tier, it provides me with an amazing amount of self-suffenciency and independance that I enjoy as they don't really earn enough money to pay someone else for these things until T3 anyway. |

You can search it & sort it so you seldom see those items. Also, haveing a set of recipes that theoretically anyone can make allows quests like "supplies for Brianna" to be possible. |

I thought at one time as you but then I got to thinking why it is that way, is because of new players starting the game mostly so they can get a feel of what all trades are like in Tier 1 and then Tier 2 so to sample out the 3 is why. Now, since they added the new start a new trade if you didn't like the old one might change how it is. Who knows

Well, I prefer the current system even if it's in a way more cumbersome. To give an example why, let's say a friend of mine makes a new alt. They mine/harvest or buy some rares to twink themselves for tier 2, their alt they aren't going to level fast, only play maybe once a week or so, so they will be in tier 2 for at least some time. (and yes, before you say "who does that", I know plenty who make an alt they like, but only play the guy once a week or less. :p ). Anyway, I can have let's say my armorer or weaponsmith do all of their work for them as far as armor or weapons, since an outfitter can do tier 2 weaponsmithing, armorsmithing or tailoring. If they also bought rares for adept III's, my alchemist can do their tier 2 spells regardless of class since a scholar can do all teir 2 spells. And, he can also do their tier 2 jewelry. With just two characters, my weaponsmith (or my armorer) and my alchemist, I can completly outfit a tier 2 alt or new player, ignoring food and I suppose ammo. Of course, I also have a 30th carpenter I've been levelling slowly, so he can help them out with tier 2 food and ammo, and of course even set them up with some decent furniture for their home, along with some basic strongboxes until they can afford better, or I get a few more levels on him and can make better. So..with 2 classes, 3 if you count food and ammo, I can completly outfit a tier 2 character. Guess I personally like being able to do so. But again, I know people who have alts that they don't level fast, either due to not playing said alts much, or due to only levelling on their mains fast, and their alts being more for roleplay first or some such. |
