Does a higher Transmuting skill have the same effect as a higher harvesting skill? Such as when I transmute a tier 1 legendary, am I more likely to receive an infusion then a powder? If skill does not effect outcome, why not? (Last one for Domino) SMILEY

From what I remember from the transmuting forums and all the old info now lost, skill only affects what you can make and what you can transmute. As to the why, she's likely going to give the same answer she has for everything that's pre-dated her- She doesn't know why but will look into it. Given different demands per tier, I'd really rather not have it changed to the way stated; I'd rather some new methodology to create powders, infusions and vials. Thinking more on someone else's suggestion of being able to convert materials, I'm actually willing to go so far as to say recipes should be given to convert frags to the higher quality item and that all transmutes should give fragments(in varying numbers corresponding to conversion rates). That would remove or adjust  a fair amount of the RNG's influence, ensure no waste since frags will always have a market and allow transmuters to adjust not only to their needs but also to the markets.

You are correct.  Transmuting skill has no effect on the actual results.  Extensive player testing in Beta and after EoF launch (now lost on the old forums) revealed the odds on a transmute as follows: 75% - common result (fragments on Treasured) 20% - rare results (powders on Treasured) 5% - both results

Given that some want to turn Transmuters into another resource gathering skill. Why should not Transmuters be given the same benefits of those that gather other resources? Transmuting skill should effect the results. SMILEY

No argument from me- if other parts of it change. As it is now, demand for certain parts vary from tier to tier and I'd rather not be stuck making cheap t6 powders instead of frags because I capped my skill.Without any ability to control product vs demand, the current process works just fine.

But only in the case of Mastercrafted, Legendary and Fabled items, yes? Because your chances of 'muting a normal treasured item is weighted to the amount of powders/fragments you're going to need to make mundane adornments.

No, because skill would not have that much effect on the frag/powder ratio at the higher tiers . Thus fragments would still be plentiful at the higher tiers.

I posted this on another thread. I think it's a better method of transmuting than the one we currently have:

If Transmuting were user-friendly, when 'muting an item a box would pop-up and ask what you want the outcome to be: treasured item = (select from powder or fragment) ~ legendary item = (select from powder, fragment, infusion)...etc.

Having selected which item you want from your transmute, the game does a skill check and you either succeed and get the item you wanted; or you fail, and get a randomly assigned powder or fragment irrespective of item type (treasured - fabled). Or even, for the hard-core among us, if you fail your skill check you get NOTHING!!)

Seems to me that we're not really transmuters but gamblers. From my perspective, a transmuter would have a pretty good idea what they were going to get from an item, and the better their skill, the more likely they'd be right!
