Hi Guys, I played EQ2 for around a year before quitting in Feb 2006. I have just decided to come back and give it another try. I was just wondering really if anyone has any advice for a returning newbie! I am on a new account so all my characters will be brand new. I'm in the UK so can anyone suggest a good server for me? I bought echoes of faydwer in GAME today, and it says its an all in one pack, so far so good. I have installed the game and now it says I have 8 hours remaining while it ........ patches I am assuming?? thats a long time! lol anyway I will stop waffling now SMILEY

Hi and welcome back.  Yes, a significant number of changes have occured (most for the best), so I think you will really like the changes.

I guess the only initial advice is to read and research.  The more you know, the better prepared you will be.

Welcome back to bump the thread.

Eventually someone from the UK will give you a better answer on server choice.

Hey and welcome to EQ2 SMILEY My suggestion on server is Splitpaw (EU-PvE server). It has decent population.

Just thought I would ask....I started the updates at around 5pm ish GMT. That was 6 hours ago and the estimated time was 8 hours. After nearly 6 hours it now says the estimated time is 6 hours 30 minutes. Is this quite normal? I am very eager to play!

really depends on server traffic, mine originally said 6 hrs 30 mins, only took about 3 though.  Guess I was lucky, I've been reading some HUGE download times.

Well I finally got in and its VERY different! Do we not need to do the citizenship quest anymore? I just got my inn room and there was noone in there to greet me! I must say that everything is much more expanatory for a new player though. I'm liking what I have seen so far!

Welcome back.

And no you dont need to do the citizenship stuff anymore, they got rid of it. If you look in your knowledge book youll find your 'Call of the Overlord/Qeynos/Kelethin/Neriak' spell already there.

Things to note about servers: the US servers tend to have their weekday maintenance at 3pm UK time in case that makes a difference, personally I dont mind it cos I'm at work then anyways SMILEY, and I find it fine on the US servers (though admittedly I am now in a very nice Euro-type guild).
