![]() I am hesitant to play it up to 70. I feel like SoE decided to make the game so that CC was not necessary, but they created a CC class anyway. Has there been any feedback to the devs about this? tbh I am a little worried that I will have a rough trip to 70. Not because I cannot play the class, but because people would overlook me in favor of someone else who can just destroy faces. Can anyone give me some advice? Is the INT spec worth it if I am just going to be part time CC and mostly DPS? /charliebrown "AuuuUUugh" thanks in advance |

I've taken my Coercer to lvl 64 so far and I am going to get him to 70. I've grouped with a lot of different people over his little career so far and I don't have to sit and wait for groups. I put out the word with them that I'm looking for something to do and get snapped up. People DO appreciate the mana regen. It can make a difference between having enough time to do two instances in a night or just one and spend a 1/2 hour standing around at the broker before logging out. Adds are mine. You bring more than one group, no worries. I've kept us from wiping in every situation from a bad pathing pull to the occasional "ok, lets see how many mobs we can fight at once!" insane tank (love 'em!). Its true, for the most part CC isn't NEEDED if the puller is careful and experienced. But things happen, and its never a bad thing to mix things up and let your DPS be the puller for a while, or put your 2nd tier tanks up in MT/puller duty for training and a night of something completely different and potentially disasterous. If you're just dinking around in an instance, your ability to lock down the mobs can make for a far more enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere. I'm having fun with him, and I know my groupmates are too and thats what matters to me most

![]() I'm loving my Coercer too. Level 29 at the moment and I'm enjoying him so much that I have put my level 51 Fury on hold for now. I haven't grouped too often with my Coercer. This is partly because I never seem to have much longer than an hour, maybe two hours at best to play at a time so this isn't really long enough for grouping. Raiding if and when I get to level 70 is therefore also unlikely to happen... I'll probably just roll a new alt or return to the fury! So I am predominantly a solo player and as a solo player, I am loving the class. I am able to take on groups of ^^^ heroics and come through alive and take on the odd named. So I'm happy. Maybe if I predominantly played in groups, it might be a different matter. Being a WOW convert about a year ago, it's interesting to see the contrast. I remember being in instance groups in WOW and before each major pull there would be a discussion over which MOB the mage(s) would 'sheep' and which undead MOBs the priest would shackle... I guess the mechanics in EQ2 are just different! |

![]() This is coming from a level 50 coercer.... As far as dps, get a master1 charm, learn which mobs are sorcerer type mobs where you will be xping, charm one, and you will do respectable dps. I find a charmed master1 sorcerer pet that crits for 2.5k is more useful than buffing everyone in the group. I still put a dps buff on the tank or a melee dps class because I don't run the signet of intuition buff or w/e it's called that gives +power and +resists to mental damage etc... CC is hit and miss. In groups that cooperate with mezzes, I can save a group from impossible odds. If they don't wanna cooperate, then the group gets owned and I just except it because I long ago tired of trying to get people not to break my mezzes. People that don't assist or spam aoe dots, or tanks that taunt and attack every add are hopeless. There's no point in trying to get them to change their ways IMO because then you end up being the [Removed for Content] whiney crying enchanter that is the hard [Removed for Content] in the group. Anyway, most groups don't need CC if you are fighting blue stuff or weaker and have a solid tank. Even 1 or 2 yellow adds can be burned down faster if you let the dps AE instead of mezzing, but only if your tank can handle that. |

There are plenty of groups out there for a coercer. Mana regen is always welcomed as are the buffs that everyone likes. CC is very useful as you rarely find yourself in a group with a tank who NEVER accidentally pulls 2. You can also look at it this way: If you have a coercer in your group you don't need a backup healer. Coercive healing boosts your MHs ability to heal enough, and stuns mitigate the damage if it's needed. Mezzes can be cast on encounters - again - if needed. My coercer is now level 64. He has the level 61 master charm which leaves him with no problem soloing [especially in bonemire and new tunaria

![]() Trust me, when I first started playing EQ2 (was long time EQ1 player) I tought to myself, what is the point of a Chanter in this game. I think Sony asked this same questions when the game was released. There for, T1-T5 can easily be done without a Chanter in group.... Do we help the Groups, yes... but our class does not shine until T6 and T7.... T7 totally! I'm excited for T8 as we continue to evolve and become more critical to groups success. The #1 reason we are not seen as needed is because our skills are all behind the sence stuff. I always get a chuckle when I leave an awesome group cause I have to log and the next day I ask how things went after I left. "We wiped 5 times and called it a night." Healers get most of the credit when we are grouped, but honestly the group doesn't have a clue. I asked a recent PoA group to let me tank while the Tank was afk... they started laughing so I charged in and pulled a mob. I think the most my healt dropped to was 80%. When they asked how did I do that, tell them perma stun, stifle and daze. Then the group will realize why they are never dropping in health. DPS, spec your aa right and you can lead raid parses at times. Yet another wake up call for people to see when the parse is shown. Power regen.. enough said. CC.. of course.. I can pull a room and have them all standing by me while I charm one and pick them off one by one.... quite a site to see. I love clearing out rooms while the group is afk. /flex PvP - Coercer > all others Stick with it, we are starting to get our EQ1 demand back at higher levels! Enjoy Exur - 70 Coercer Venekor
