I have messed with range from targets and position when firing off the AOE, and the only way I can get it to affect multiple targets is if I wait till they are pulled and stay 8m from the center of the group and if I am lucky it will hit maybe two or three targets in the area...I rarely even use it cause it just doesn't work for me properly, I can do alot more damage without the AOE cause it wastes valuable time I could be auto attacking.

I use it on large groups when raiding if there isn't a chance of pulling an add or something through the wall and if solo'ing is what you're referring to,drop a trap,Rain of arrows ,stepping back a couple steps to get them into the trap depending, then surveil/selection seems to work /shrug

well, I dont have traps yet, I am 41. I duo with my wife's lvl 63 warden (she mentors me). the only way I can get the AOE to hit more than one target is to have her pull them with a spell, then root them in one spot and have me sneak up behind and fire off the AOE, and most of the time it only hits one or two of the targets in a group of 4 or more enemies....

Ah well then I would say it will be more situational as it is now for me,I think in my 40s you can do quite a bit more damage with a mix of melee/ranged than trying to coordinate selection for optimum use,not trying to belittle your query just my opinion. Single them out and blast them! SMILEY

Remember that our AOE only has a max range of 5m from the selected target, so to get the most overall damage out of it you want to aim for a target in the centre of a group, to have the best chance of hitting the entire encounter.

that answered my question...5m range...I should have looked at the range before I posted...I am using Longarm, and it is effective at 4m+...which explains why it only hits 1-2 targets even when i think i am centered on the group.

thanks for the help guys!

I stopped playing my ranger for a while. Well almost 1 year now. Can anyone tell me what has changed with rangers? and when did we get an AOE? What is the name of the AOE skill? He is currently lvl 60.

at 60 we have 2 AoE. An encounter AoE called Storm of Arrows (at 50) Rain of Arrows (at 70). And an out of encounter AoE called Natural Selection (at 43 I think) and Selection ( at 60 I think). Selection can be cast on the run.
