Can anyone please explain exactly how this spell works and if it's working at all?  I just got it and apparently I have to place it on a single ally?  Is it raid-wide?  The spell says "when allies cast hostile spells" yet I can only have it on one person.  Shouldn't that be "when ally"?  The wording of some of these spells is aweful.

The way I read it the mana cure acts as a cure proc. So if Dragon A hits off a magic based ae dot and wizzie b fires off a magic based attack and has mana cure on him, there is a 10% chance his attack will fire the proc and cure the group. I have been using this on toons whom are most likely to fire off spells that I dont have the grp cure for.

PS - I agree, some of the spell descriptions are woeful.

Yeah that sounds about right to me, too.  Although it shouldn't say "when allies cast" because it can only be placed on a single ally.  The spell sounds intereseting but I imagine it's only marginally beneficial at best.  In fact, I am often in MT in raids and I rarely have spell casters with me other than enchanters.  Too bad it doesn't work with combat arts, too.Does it??

Back in beta when the full spell effects were shown, it never showed slashing, crushing or piercing cures.  Besides, it wouldn't exactly fit the idea of "Mana" cure either, since CAs one would assume aren't mana based if there were such a thing in this game.  Also it seemed like all of the types were separate... so a magic spell triggering it would cast a magic cure... not an arcane cure including all three types.

Yep, I did a test run a while back and cast it on our zerker and got them to use specific CAs when the trauma icon was up. Never saw it proc. I generally keep it on a mage class now, if possible.

How do you figure it has a 10% chance. I haven't read anything about the actual percentage chance of it curing. This has the potential to be quite a useful spell if the person you cast it on times it correctly but without any knowledge of how often it actually will cure, it will only remain a trivial AA. So Manacure isn't working on truama, but it does work on arcane and I assume elemental. Anyone know about noxious if put on a necro, warlock, or sk? I've been working towards this, need like 3 more AA's but the more I think about it the more I don't think it's worth it. I really like the idea of lowering my smites power cost so that dpsing won't make me feel like I'm hurting the raid by wasting power that could go to heals. Another option I haven't looked much into, and I would like to hear what some of the people who have tried it out, is the new upgrades to compliance.

mana cure says it procs off hostile spells.  Combat Arts are NOT spells and shouldn't proc mana cure.  (check the relevant section of your knowledge journal - tho if it listed in the abilities tab like most aa abilities it could be either.)

Having said that are there any damage spells that deal trauma?

I had Mana Cure on a Warlock in Cazic-Thule the other night and it worked out great -- I was the only priest in the group and rarely had to Cure Noxious. I think the secret is to know the type of (magical?) damage you will be expecting and cast it on a caster that uses the same damage type.

In Permafrost or Solusek's Eye, for example, with many mobs casting Heat or Cold damage spells I would cast Mana Cure on a Conjuror or Wizard.

In Cazic-Thule, with many mobs casting Poison damage spells I would cast it on a Warlock, Shadowknight, etc. I do not know if item procs, buff procs or poison (another buff proc) count though so would probably not cast it on a scout -- except for Bards who frequently cast spells.
