![]() Hello, I have rolled Troll Coercer alt and am having a lot of fun with it. I have reached lvl 12 so far. I've been looking through the Coercer forums and see people talking about charming wizard MOBs, and warlock MOBS and inquisitor MOBS.. but my question is.. how do you know what type of MOB you have charmed? Is it a case of looking at the comabat log and knowing that spell X belongs to class Y? Or is there a method that doesn't require you to know all the spell names for every class? |

There are a couple of ways to check. --Probably the easiest way is to watch your pet for casting animation and large damage spikes by them. That's one way to tell if you have a caster pet. Also you can watch and see if they heal themselves. That's one way to find out if you have a caster and more specifically a healer pet. --You can check the log and see the damage amount and spell names and hope to figure it out from there. --Sometimes the mob name can give a clue to what kind of mob it is (i.e. 'magi' may indicate a caster mob) My advice would be to charm a variety of mobs and find one that you like. It's one of the fun things I like about being a coercer in a new zone is to wander around charming different mobs and trying them out. Also, I believe there is a pet guide floating around somewhere in these forums and that might help point you in the right direction. Good Luck!

![]() Make an Erudite Coercer and you can use the aura vision to pick and choose the mob you want to charm. No aura its melee, green aura it's a healer, blue it's a mage type. This can quickly get you the type you want to get more specific you have to look at the active buffs on the mob if any and what it casts. This is the only race/class combo that offers any real benefit over another. If you really want to be a troll don't worry at 40 you get troll illusion and you can be a troll anytime you want. At 30 you get ratogna illusion too. Just personally since you can change to either of those races I wouldnt pick either as my race. and I find the aura vision to be quite worth having. Now you have another option to think about. But do what makes you happy. |

or you can also take Tinkering as a crafting hobby and make yourself some auragoggles and get the nifty auravision that way.

What auragoggles are you talking about? I haven't seen any tinkered items that give aura vision. Are they tradable? If not, are they tinkerer-only, or could I enlist the services of a tinkerer to make them into my inventory?

Another way to see what kind of mob it is is to just root it and wait 20 seconds. IF it casts, its a good mob. If not, discard it.

Also, you can tell if a mob is a caster by the type of weapon they carry (if they carry one at all). A skele with a pair of swords is NOT a wizard. One with a wand just might be.

![]() Generally the name of the mob can give you a clue as well. A "thaumaturge" is going to be a mage-type, where a "prophet" or "chaplain" will likeyl be a priest-type. Beyond that, I tend to watch the mob's feet for the casting animation when in combat, or I will click on them and see if they have any self-buffs on before trying to charm them. My current favorite pet for soloing is the Rebeaed Chaplain in the Loping Plains. I figured it was a priest of some sort since it was a "chaplain" and then after I charmed it, when it would cast on the mobs, it had the inquisitor's "foot effect" so that's how I know it's an inquisitor. |
