They have been bugged for 5 months, they are getting worse, and not better - as in now it seems more frequent and you have to log out completely to fix it often. It's pretty obvious they are broken, have been broken since launch, and are not getting fixed.

So, remove em, and put a bell there instead. please. 15 minutes to get around TT logging in and out is no fun, period.

I don't believe the Dev team will admit failure although I have to admit, I am sick of it. I agree.. Please put bells in place of the clouds.. Right click bell and select your destination. That would rock!!

Or even water slides would be great from isle to isle!

I rather them fix the clouds than completely work around the problem (which they tend to do anyways) for a quick fix.  I still enjoy the view while island hoping, I wouldn't want that to go away because of the cloud bug.  Not to mention, bells would be completely out of place since they exist in the game world to call a ship, even though you don't actually see it.

If the devs do not want to take the time to fix this ongoing bug, a compromised solution would be: If your cloud does not take off in 10-15 sec, you will auto-port to the cloud platform that you chose.  Then again, progamming that could take just as long, /shrug.

what seems to work for me is a thorough file scan... now if I just knew what file I was correcting to "fix" the clouds I would just delete that file and let the quick scan resend it... note; not all the time do the clouds failing in one area of KoS cause or indicate all areas are bugged.  Highly zone focused.

I agree.  This nonsense has gone on long enough.

Bells may be out of place, but it destroys the immersion even more to have to log in and out of the game.  Maybe the bells are calling griffons we can't see.

Anyone remember Secret of Mana?  They need huge cannons to shoot us from island to island!  That would own.

Just so you guys know, you don't really have to log out.  You can port to another isle and then go back and it usually works.   Probably takes just as long, but at least you don't have to regroup and things like that.

a lot of people are complaining about this but few take any actions among themselves to fix anything. Yes there are times you can get griffen // cloud // carpet bugged but it dosnt happen on a regular basis. Have you cleaned your computer lately? done a full file scan with the patcher? as the OP stated fly to another island ( sometimes this will allow u to return to the same island and take the cloud to where u wanted to go. )

I do full file scans nearly every other time that I log on because of this HIGHLY annoying bug.

Yes, sometimes you have an option to fly to another location, but ocassionally you're on a deadend isle, and only one location is available.

The solution is the developers need to figure out what is causing this, and correct it.  It has went on way to long and should be a much higher priority than it currently seems to be.

This is really one of the most frustrating bugs I've had to deal with.

Its not just that it is hard to get anywhere without restarting the game, but try to get a full group from point A to point C when you often have to do connecting flights.  There is almost no chance that the entire group makes it.

inept coders should not implement things beyond thier capacity to fix, do away with them(clouds) and carpets for that matter and add insta- teleporter things to take you directly to destination...can change the device clicked to a disk, or a lump of coal for all i care , instead of the bell graphic,BUT it would prolly take 8 mo. for the art dept. to implement a lump of coal, and even then it would prolly be the wrong color...lol.
THE BUGGED CLOUDS MUST GO!!!

I find that, if there is any motion at all (even twisting), and I wait the cloud will eventually take off after a minute or so.

I have never have a problem with carpets in DOF was that fixed?

Just make them work like the pads in Lavastorm and SE, but with location choices, I never had those fail and they are quick too.

Pogo sticks.  I want pogo sticks!  One should go on a gigantic pogo stick and hop from island to island!  SMILEY

Seriously yes..don't get rid of the clouds, I love the effect of flying on them, but if there is any way to fix them at all, please do.  Seems like it's when I'm in the biggest hurry, be it to get to a group, or close to a server reset for instance, is when the clouds are at their worst, and I have to relog to actually ride one.

they have been bugging less for me, but the problem still exists. next update note: ** Zones and Population ** -The gnomes of the overrealm have perfected their teleportation contraption! They have replaced the old fashioned cloud platforms with this new device, and there is a 5 gold toll everytime you use one that is automatically subtracted from your inventory or bank! -Stuck with no money and no way off an island? Jumping off the platforms in the overrealm now land you in random locations within Antonica or The Commonlands where you will die on impact. edit> what a waste of my 1,337th post

YES PLEASE GET RID OF THE CLOUDS, i never liked them anyway, they dont even look like they could support my fat toons body

fix em or scrap em

i mean you have instant teliporting things in the qenos mage tower, but nowhere else, you never hear any problems with those things. USE THOSE

sure youl miss the nice scene while flying but when it only works 3 out of 10 time

its time fo rthe clouds to go

Problem is, this goes back long before the clouds, this goes back to the carpets. Clouds run the same code, they just have a different look than carpets.SOE has not been able to fix this code since DOF release with the carpets.I say get rid of both if you can't fix the code to work properly and just put in teleport pads.

I believe they have been trying to "fix" the clouds/carpets for a long time.  Unfortunately i they have yet to be successful.  I would at this point rather have an npc jsut teleport me to the platform i want to go.  They did that with the boats in EQ1 when they were broken, we should get the same treatment here.

Anyone around from the beginning will remember these problems in transport being around since release with the griffon towers in commonlands/antonica. Remember selecting a location and mounting a griffon, only to hover there in place until you /quit?

Developers eventually fixed that bug, but, considering how long it took, it was obviously low on their list of priorities. Too often they fail to consider the more practical aspects of the game that we players all deal with on a daily basis in favor of inconsequential minutiae that only affects .001 of the playing population.

The easiest solution I've seen presented would be to replace the clouds with instant teleports a la the mage tower in qeynos. This would also make it not suck so bad when you inadvertently select a wrong isle and have to fly all the way back to your original spot, all the while hoping the cloud bug doesn't appear.

Sort of unprofessional for developers to have not even acknowledged the cloud issue, let alone address it. Until then, i guess we must just learn to deal with it and construct workarounds (like we've been accustomed to since November 2004). :smileyvery-happy:

-Kai
