Don't you just love how much a difference there is in the way the Caves and The Ruins are set up? The Caves are a nice challenge (a few aggro solo mobs wandering around) That allows a new person to learn a few things the islands didn't teach before going out into Antonica. There are two camps of heroic aggro mobs and a river full of heroics that are non aggro.

Now the ruins is full of nothing but aggro mobs wandering all of the place. So you will often try to pull 1 mob and end up being jumped by about 3-5 of any within the area... So this zone is almost completely heroic in a part of the game where groups are rarely if ever formed...

This zone is meant to be an advanced learning zone not a drop you into a lower leveled version of zek... Also the uber named roc of this zone is foten up and wandering the area where 90% of the quest mobs are... This guy is a ^^ with two healers with no arrows... he is severely out balance with the rest of the zone and only furthers the bad lay out of this zone.

Oh don't forget the complete and utter stupidity of the guards... they will either ks you or not help you at all. My dirge pulled a guard (an orc one) into the very first area and was doing a good job at killing him untill a pawn comes bursting through the barricades completely unchallenged by the obviously blind guards. So I backed up right next to a guard hoping it would take the unengaged pawn off of me... but it stood there looking at me like I was stupid or something...

The Overlord believes in survival of the fittest, unlike that disco Queen from the other side of Antonica. You should be honored to die bravely alongside the guards defending our city from marauding orcs! Enough whining, get back into the fray and serve your Overlord, for Freeport!

You're right, the Ruins are way more difficult than the Caves and require careful attention to adds and pulling. The General is a serious hazard in the zone too and I'm not sure there is anything close to him in the Caves except for the Atramentor and you have to clear a DAC for him to spawn.
