![]() He was a nice pet, yes he taunted like mad, but then again, thats what it took to keep a mob off of me. In short, he was my replacement for the copmplete loss (yes I said complete) of my root spells. All he was good for was keeping the mobs occupied while I did my wizard thing. Sure, I agree he was a bit overpowered and when I read you lowered his life to 45 seconds I thought that was a good change and would bring him in line, as that would make life very interesting and dangerous for me.. as at a minute, I could have most mobs I was able to kill within a cast or two of death. At 45 seconds that would leave me getting beat on, interuptted and near death on those same mobs. HOWEVER... (and keep in mind this is a MASTER 2 Protoflame) Protoflame seems to have lost his taunt, so now he is back to square one, which is the second I cast a spell the mobs are on me like white on rice and I die. Protoflame seems to have lost most of his health... so the new 45 second limit is immaterial.. he can not live that long even with a defiler warding and healing him. Protoflame has in a nutsell, become about as useful as it was when it did 1-2 points damage a month ago and is a complete and utter waste as a Master 2 ability and should be removed from the choices if it is going to stay this way. You should have lowered his life to 45 seconds and left the rest alone, that would have been balanced. But nerfing the heck out of the spell AND pumping the mobs up to ungodly levels on top of it is just messed up. Heck, Proto would have been completely worthless against these new and improved mobs even if you made him last ten minutes. If you wanted to nerf my pet, you should have given him 10k more health, increased his damage output 10 fold and made his taunt completely irresistable... that would still be a nerf comparred to these new mobs that have just descended upon us. Keep in mind, it would take me 9 Ice Comets to kill a level 43 heroic named now (fire toad), at a one minute refresh per IC and pretty much anything else I have not even making a noticeble effect on the mob... Proto could last 8 minutes and 57 seconds and I would still lose, since the Fire Toad (low green mob) can 2 hit me. Message Edited by Kwoung on 09-08-2005 12:43 AM |

![]() Latest patch 9/9... Protoflame seems to have nerfed some more and is pretty much back to his original (broken) state of usefulness. If I cast him at a mob after I have agro, he can never taunt off me and he only hits in the 20-70 range on green mobs now as far as I can see. As for health, I cast him at 3 different green^^^ mobs 7-10 levels lower than me and the protoflame, on the non-named mob he lasted 3 seconds, on the named mobs he actually died before ever even fully arriving to the mobs... in short, he was one hit enroute to the target. How the mobs killed him with melee damage from 10-15 feet away is beyond me, but protoflame died instantly non-the-less. Checking my damage chat, I found that he seems to have around 1400-1500 hitpoints and I can not imagine he has any mitigation or avoidance at all as easy and quick as he died. I hope that this is not the intention, as I much preferred protoflame as my taunting tank to using stupid root spells. It was fun and interesting to use him as a tank for Zindi and I, so we could finally focus on doing damage and using strategies to defeat encounters, instead of being a tanking mage and frantic healer. Bottom line, Proto added a lot of fun to my game for the short time through this barrage of patches that he was actually a useful pet. For the first time in a long time Zindi and I felt like we were really having a ton of fun, instead of just grinding away at stuff. If given a choice between the uber roots you just gave me or having a master 2 protoflame that can tank and taunt well, I will take the protoflame. BTW, proto in his best form was a lot less powerful than these new roots, as the roots pin multiple mobs down 100%, and proto could only tank one mobs at a time and could not stand up health wise to 3 mobs beating on him. |
