I was wondering if they are ever going to make alternate zones, where we can all be flagged for pvp on a non-pvp server, kind of like the combat zones in star wars  or the battle grounds in wow I've heard about. I think it would be fun to have a city zone of freeport and qeynos to raid where we are all flagged for pvp with some type of reward for the factions that have taken the most ground over. Even live events to free fallen gate to re-open the dark elf home city as a starting city, but leave the old zone of fallen gate as an alternate option (like picking heroic or solo instence)  to still adventure in make, it so non-dark elf / non-evil characters will have to make it to the bottom of fallen gate or complete a quest to enter the new open city and soforth for the other cities as we discover them. Just a few ideas I was hoping I would see I know there are plenty of bugs that could be fixed with my idea I was just wondering if anybody else has posted something like this or was interested in this kind of stuff PVP is fun from time to time I think it woud be great to get a group of friends together to go hit a zone where we are all hunting each other or grouping agains other people, hell would even be fun to have wars with other guild in the combat zones.

Please add any idea you think would be fun or flaws you see with some of the ideas I posted.

Yeah, it's called Arena and its all ready in the game. It's not doing so well, since there is no incentive to go there, like they have in WoW. You can play as yourself or as an Arena Champion. It was a great idea, but it failed miserably.

in wow you gain titles from doing such zones. afaik they're the only available titles in wow, so they're something to reach for. in eq2, where everyone and his stepbrother have a dozen of random titles, a title isn't worth much.and in wow you get some pretty decent rewards for gaining high titles. even on pve servers.

Setting aside the hyperbole, you're right.  Maybe it would do better if you were fighting city vs. city, you fought other players actual characters with your own under PvP rules rather than the arena champion avatars, and you did so in actual zones instead of a bland arena.

To get PvE players interested in PvP there has to be some sort of reward and there can't be any permanent loss beyond what you might lose in PvE combat.  Possible rewards are city faction, winning team gets to loot a chest with coin and items, exprience for kills and bonus experience winning, trophies you can place in your home.

It could work, but in all honesty if you want to occasionally PvP you might as well roll an alt on a PvP server.  The only advantage to a battleground would be the matching element that would eliminate the frustration of ganking by keeping similar levels together.

Oh, how I wish PvP in EQ2 (and WoW) was more like Dark Age of Camelot's (New Frontiers) by being able to take -- and hold -- keeps, dungeons (like Darkness Falls) and relics.  If it was, I would far more interested in PvP than the current implementation(s).  :smileysad:

"Veeshan's Claw"
  1. As big as Antonica, with no npcs, just players.
  2. The zone will have a lock out timers so players will still have to adventure elsewhere.
  3. Instances for all out guild wars, or non-instanced for any joe to die..err.. player kill.
  4. Prefix titles for PvP accomplishments.
  5. Personal status for single player PvP, and guild status for Guild PvP.

All they need to do to get the arena more utilised is add in a way for adventurers on PvE servers to gain points and use them to spend them on items avalible on the PvP merchants... I'd be in there any time i am not raiding till i have the 2 or 3 items i want...

I dont think that the pvp merchants should ever be added to pve servers. The idea was that it is much harder to get raid gear on a pvp server. So If someone pvp enough they could still get some raid quality gear. There is no need for that in pve, dont get me wrong I would like some of that gear too but to add the faction system from pvp into pve would be way more problems then good.

I think PvP zones would be a cool idea. Maybe even have some quests, "optional" ones of course, that required something from them, maybe have a bonus for exp, maybe extra harvests...something to make it worthwhile to go there beyond just to gank or be ganked.
