Please post feedback/bugs/questions/comments concerning the Qeynos Village newbie quest paths in this thread.

Specifically this means the racial quest paths through the Qeynos Villages new for LU 19, but bugs for other quests within the Qeynos Villages can also be noted here. Thank you.

These quests can be started, if you are of the appropriate race, by the NPCs on or near the starting point in the Qeynos Village zones. These NPCs are recognizable by the tag under their name: "<[race] Mentor>. These NPCs are meant to teach you a little bit about your race and will have a series of 3-5 quests for you to perform before they send you off to an adventure yard for further training.

Currently Known Issues:
  • The "Welcome to Qeynos" book reward may not be present on all quests.
  • Innkeeper "quest notification" is not going away [fix checked in 1/11]
  • Innkeeper in Castleview Hamlet no longer updates quests that point to him [being looked into 1/12]
  • Conditions exist that can put characters created prior to the push in a state where they lose a number of skills [being looked into 1/12]

Innkeeper Valean in Castleview will no longer update Reservations for a Visitor or Faeadaen's Dinner Message when you hail him. He only gives options to explain housing/ selling/ item placement.

A harvesting knife is needed to harvest seeds from Green wisps in Castleview. Since this is one of the first quests given many newbies will not know they will have to go to the inn and buy a harvesting knife. Also the knives are quite expensive in comparison to what a new player will probably have gotten by this point.

Was this with a newly character or an older one? I made a high elf and jumped directly from the Queen's Colony to Castleview Hamlet and was able to harvest the Green Mist plants without a harvesting knife. The seed pods of the Green Mist are very fragile, a knife shouldn't be needed =)

I had a lvl 4 pre-update scout that lost all skills. Looking at my skills window showed only tracking and common.  There was nothing else there.

I couldn't harvest and the chat window said I didn't have enough skill.  I examined the node and was told that it required a skill of 1 and I had 0. (Buying a harvesting knife would've given me a skill of one, so that explains why that worked).

I wasn't doing any auto-attack damage because I had no piercing skill.  The only damage I was able to do was combat art.

Stinge may of hit it.. All my skills were level 0 and i needed 1 to harvest and the knife did it. Yes my newbie char was made right before the patch to the newbie island and level 4.  And when logging in after the patch her skills were reduced down to 0

A question:

Is it intentional that the Qeynos Inn quest now gives a mirror (same as Freeport)  instead of the picture the old quest did?

(virtually) all skills of all players on Test are lower (my crushing/defense for a lvl 26 were in the 20's).  My lvl 6 on the isle did not have gathering and one other skill ( forget which) and was not able to gather at all.

I hope this is only with old characters on the island... i'd hate eveything to reset off the island of high lvl characters

It would be nice if that's intentional.  The Freeport mirror is the only mirror like that available, but the painting given in Qeynos before is identical to one of the crafted paintings (which used to be.. long long ago.. identical to a purchased painting.. I had 3 of them at one time.. from the 3 sources *laugh*).

This is refering to the part of the Kerran newbie quest where you have to kill the 3 sets of gnolls guarding the "machines" in Peat Bog. When I went to kill the first set of 3 gnolls, I killed the machinist and his assistant as a level 10 Dirge, but when I went to kill the Gnoll Guard he would dissappear occasionally then reappear a second or so later as if he was using snoop or some other combat art. At one point he knocked me unconcious, stopped hitting me, and went invis. When my health had returned enough to get up I moved, he reappeared, and knocked me out again, but didn't go invis this time. He did go back to the spot where he had spawned though. When I eventually was able to get up again I was far enough away from him that he didn't agro, but I was still engaged in combat. After a grueling wait (in combat health regen) I proceded to kill him and got the update.

Lvl 8 "Any messages for Jendan" quest is curently unfinishable, starts in willow wood at Jendan Greenthorn to talk to the Innkeeper(has all house info chat now, no option for the quest update) then back to Jendan.  The innkeeper has the book/quiver over her head but no option to update in the chat options.

Lvl 4 "Tridute Leaves" (noob intro quest) in willow wood for the second stage of this quest when you are told to go back to talk to Aelis after collecting the leafs, in willow wood there are two npc's with a very similar name Aelis and Aelia, one is simply Aelis(the right one for quest) and one is Aelia Oakweaver(a merchant in the bank) i would imagine this would be very confusing for someone new, i caught the slight first name differnce moments ago and sat trying to talk to the merchant befor trying to check tracking again.

(all as a wood elf Swash, lvl 6 at the time)

Yes, Antonia Bayle has graciously decided to gift new citizens of Qeynos with a mirror.

Cool. Calthine, Ayenea, and especially Rijacki have convinced me that it's a good idea. :smileyhappy:

Never knew that you could make that painting. I spend way too much time in Freeport.

Tthe problem with the castleview innkeeper seems to be a problem with all innkeepers that have quests pointing to them in Qeynos Villiages.  While I don't have a freeport char I could imagine if the same setup is used over there probably is also a problem on that side.

For the quest "Deposit for Grekin" Banker Orudormo in Starcrest commune is not updating/responding when hailed.

I've had this happen on live and bugged it there, zoning seemed to fix him so he'd update the quest.

The only problems I've run in to in the villages on test so far is the Innkeeper in Castleview. I'm unable to update quests involving him or get his quest (for his lost books in the Down Below). Also after finishing the training yard quest from the high elf mentor I had no follow-up quest and no clue that things were finished. Going back to teh mentor he just has a brief dialog asking if I helped out the guy in Oakmyst. Is this truly the end of the quest line?

ADDED: I joined the Castleview artisan tradeskill society (CHarter of Truthbringers). The guy inside still sells the note from Dreak. Examining it or hailing hte NPC does not offer a quest and you still can't do any tradeskilling. At this point until the Tradeskill trainer is done it looks like new characters can't do any tradeskilling, though I haven't tried talking to the two Ironforges in Qeynos Harbor that you went to to choose your artisan subclasses.

WHile not quest related, with the change of all the animals in the villages to attackable mobs the guards are running around the Qeynos villages butchering cats, dogs, and pigs! THis also does have an indirect effect on quests as the guards who offer quests spend a period of time 'locked' after attacking one of the helpless critters and during that time will not respond to hails to get/update/complete a quest.

As a reward for one of the early high elf mentor quests you get an item called 'Greenwisp'. This starts off as a house item, if you examine it you get an option to 'remove the mounting' and it makes reference to a 'Charm of Elosi'. If you try to remove the mounting nothing happens, leaving this just a house item.

The human trainer in Starcrest gives several quests (as u all know) but none of his quests give ANY quest reward, except for XP.

I was surprised that the high elf trainer (wich i did after) gave a quest reward after each quest.... is this intentional?

I don't know about the other classes in Qeynos.

I can confirm Innkeeper Yeoni in Willow Wood Inn does not update the quest "Any messages for Jendan".

Bartender Bulurg in Castleview is supposed to give you a jug so you can do "A Jug of Water for the Hole in the Wall", but after several times abandoning and retaking the quest, I've never gotten a jug. I even went to the Oakmist Falls to see if it would trigger anyways, but it didn't.

You don't get a jug for the water, it's always been just an update for walking into the falls. This is a known problem (as are all location updates in Oakmyst Forest like the picnic spot and the ode to oakmyst) and being worked on. Since its the weekend I'm not sure we'll see another test server patch until Monday, was surprised when one came through at midnight last night.

This may be a bit nitpicky, but when talking to Jendan Greenthorn in Willow Wood for the quest Any Messages for Jendan? he talks about the Isle of Refuge when it should be Queen's Colony:smileytongue:

I'm sorry about the double post but I think a couple of quests in the forest ruins are bugged. Vaughn's Stuff requires you to kill ruin skulkers, and there are only ruin prowlers that I've seen so the requirement needs to be changed. The other quest is Returning to the Disturbance. You have to sprinkle powder on some bushes to make a campsite appear. When you do that you're supposed to look for some item at the camp but nothing was around that could be clicked or anything like that.
