Just built my new rig and noticed some glaringly obvious problems with the game.System:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+DFI Lan Party NF4 SLI DRAntec TruPower 600watt Power Supply(2) BFG Geforce 7800GTX OC Cards2Gb Corsair XMS Pro RAM(2) Seagate Raptor HDDs (RAID 0)Dell 2405FPW 24" LCDSymptomsThe player motion is jerky to the point that my toon looks as if it has Parkinson's Disease. The screen blacks out completely (if I have waypointed to a place, the golden line is still visible)Music gets jerky and stutters as wellIt is generally playable for the first 30 minutes or so, then the display and sound problems start occuringIn short, the game is unplayable.I fixed the problem by starting the game and then going into Task Manager and using Set Affinity to limit the game to one processor core. The game is completely playable now.Why it can't handle a multi-core processor is something the Devs should look at

This is not the games fault, it is a windows issue.  Windows has a iissue when handling multi core systems, it doesn't span the data across the two cores correctly.  I have a an X2 Rig and I don't have any problems with EQ2, however I did with another game (Serious Sam 2).  After doing some research i found what the issue was, it is in Windows XP with SP2.  Here is the link from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896256

In all, a system with a single core will run the game better then a system with dual core with this problem.  Not all peices of software cause this problem and I for one am not sure what in the system causes certain games/software to give this problem.  Of course, besure you back up your system before applying this Hot Fix, as microsoft says it's not promissed that this will work, and that it won't screw up your system; however it did not cause any problems on my system.

Good Luck!

Don't mess with the registry hack.

You might want to check the Tech Support forum for your answers. I mean that's what that board is there for, not the Test Server boards.

Check out this thread...http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=tech_support&message.id=114592&view=by_date_ascending&page=1I followed the instructions by updating the AMD CPU driver and applying the patch from MS and I can play EQ2 without having to set the proc affinity (I used to have to do that).  Give that a try and see if that helps...

Like the above posters stated, the problem isn't necessarily with the game.  It is most likely with the OS and the drivers for the OS.  I have not had luck with any multiple CPU setup since the invention of the BP6...  You can set affinity also with a command line argument to the game, (but I cannot remember what it is now), so I would google the set affinity in command line and check that avenue...

SLI and eq2 don't work.   Turn off / Remove 1 video card. Hate to say it, but it clears up most things. I had the same issue. I would randomly crash, the game would studder constantly, and the screen refresh rate just sucked.   Droped back to 1 card, and everything runs great.
