The AoE on raid mobs has undergone some changes with the Combat Update that I believe are unintentional. The majority of Old World Epics have AoEs that are much, much larger than they used to be. The Old World Mobs used to be about avoiding the AoE, like it or not. For the most part, it is now impossible to do so while actually being effective (Venekor, Vision of Vox, Atrius the Watcher, etc). Due to the reduced amount of people that can cure status effects this range really needs to be looked at. Doing an encounter like Vision of Vox with only two people that can cure elemental (Druids/Furies only) means that you can only have 2 groups in fighting her. The other two groups have to be 15 seconds of out-of-encounter running distance from her, practically making them ineffective. The Old Worlds are getting close to being doable by level 50's, but they definetly aren't there yet. Gorndax

![]() I believe the expansion to the range of the AE was actually prior to the combat revamp and was in response to those who can do hefty range attacks (wizards, warlocks, rangers, etc) being able to stand at distance and take no effect at all rendering anyone else going into the encounter useless. |

![]() No, this is not the case. We did every old world mob and instance up to the day of the combat changes / DoF. Now most of these mobs have much larger than normal AoE. For instance, K'Dal and Atrius the Watcher had a 360 degree AoE with a large range. However, if you stood your tank between the mob and the healers (who were at max range) they would not be hit. Other mobs like Venekor, Spirit of Vox, and Vision of Vox who have AoEs with larger radius's you could effectively joust because the distance wasn't too much of a problem to make people completely usless (although it did a good 50% or so). There's probably more, but I'm only going off what I've tested. Anyway, I'm going to assume that this was unintentional and post it here for bugs. The reason being that Old World Epics are still not balanced (try doing SoL with lvl 50's), and that there were no patch notes saying epic mob AoEs are larger for a reason. If this is intentional then there is another problem. Any effect that has a longer duration then instantious from an AoE is going to severely hurt raids. If you have a very nasty dot like Vene's or Vox's it needs to get cured or the group dies. Stuns with huge radius's will effectively stop healing from everyone in that radius which will kill the MT. The only option here is to joust with healers. Therefore, for mobs with these huge AoE dot/stun/etc effects SoE needs to consider the fact that not every group can cure it. Even people with stun cures will be stunned and cant cast them. And that when dealing with these sorts of effects the person actually tanking will not be getting healed as much as needed. Encounters will need to be changed from a pure healing strength vs mob dps, to a more reactive type fight. Anyway, I'm rambling. Gorndax Dragondorf Leader of Legacy Unrest
