I'd love to hop on Test and see what these new combat changes are.  As a Mystic, I'm especially curious about wards.  However, the current deficiencies with wards don't show up until near level 30, and I haven't the time to level another character that far.

In EQLive, I believe there was a function implemented for a little while that allowed the creation of a higher-level character on Test, complete with an average set of No-Drop gear.  This allowed for more appropriate testing of abilities.

Per the Test F.A.Q.:

Can I have my existing characters copied over for play on Test?
No. Characters on the Test server will be starting fresh. However, there may be times when the dev team copies over characters from the standard servers to help test specific features.
I think these changes warrant such an option.  My idea:  Allow me to create a copy of my current character, including only gear and spells, and flag me as being unable to loot, harvest, etc.  This way I could test the changes appropriately, and not affect the regular Test population.

Would anyone else be interested in this?

The combat changes aren't on the test server.  The combat changes are being tested along with the DoF Expansion on the Beta server and have mostly high level toons doing the testing.

Combat changes are being moved to the test server, probably today with LU13b.

Are you sure? According to the post below, the combat changes will not be included in LU13 for the test server.

Yes the combat changes are going on test (probably) today !

I agree with the original poster.
It would be nice to test the combat changes with higher level characters.

Well, if they combat changes do go to test than I would agree that a copy wouldn't be a bad thing.  Although, SOE has said many times that they won't offer a mass copy to test.  Would be nice, though.

Assuming that a mass copy would be too difficult, perhaps an alternative would be something like this:

1)  Create a new character on test
2)  Enter command /test_combat_changes_level, where level is the desired char level.  Perhaps restrict to 20, 30, 40, 50 for simplicity.
3)  Your new character is set to the desired level, along with the following:
  • An average set of attuned gear, such as player-crafted non-rare stuff, and a complete set of Adept 1 spells
  • Restricted to no experience gain, no harvesting, no looting of any dropped items (less impact on the economy for regular Test players)
  • New characters with this flag will be deleted upon DoF launch.

I understand this would be extra work for the Devs, but for changes of this magnitude, I'd really like to be able to give my 2 cents before it goes live.  Posters in other threads have cited the 50% exp bonus on test as reason for not implementing something like this; well, I'm sorry, but even with that I just don't have time to maintain two characters.

Any consideration would be greatly appreciated.  :smileyhappy:

Actually.

They had something like this on EQ1 test server. It wasn't as fancy, though.

You could type in /testbuff and you'd get a set of No drop armor and be leveled, with full skill ups and all special spells, to level 25. Realize, at the time level 25 was a nice instant increase, but was still low level.
