![]() You just come home from a hard day of adventuring and want to just dump your loot on the floor. Out of the air a voice cries, " You have reached the limit of items and pets that can be placed in this house". As you stand there with blank look upon your face, you begin to wonder, what now? IT'S MOVING DAY! You run to the nearest bank, load up all your gold and head off house hunting as a sense of excitment builds. Stopping in QH you notice some nice 2-room apartments, not badly priced and within your means. You click on the buy button and that voice in the air cries, " You already own a house". The blank look upon your face and the low grumble in your thoat aren't becoming. So off you head back to your old home. Stepping inside you realize just how much prized loot and items you have managed to collect. It's everywhere, floors, walls and ceiling. About this time you also realize just what a pain it is going to be to move all this stuff. Ok, enough of the story... the solution to the above follows: Add a button to the house UI, call it Moving Day. Pressing this button will ask you if your sure. Upon clicking "Yes" the game will inventory everything in the room. At this point everything in the house becomes unusable/moveable etc... The game will inform you that you are now packed to move. Now you run over and buy that 2-room in QH. The game sees your other house is all packed up, ready to move so it lets you buy the house. Once you enter the house and bring up the UI you will see a button labeled Move In. Pressing this button does alot of things. You will be locked out of your old house. Emails will be sent to all characters with items in the old house and where to retrieve them from. It places a big moving crate in the middle of your floor. This crate will act like the inbox side of the email UI. Everything that belonged to you from the old house will be listed. Anything that belonged to other characters won't be accessable to you. They will have to come and retrieve/place the items. Any money you had on deposit will be transfered as well as your access list and permissions. Vault containers and items are transfered. Welcome to your new home! Now where to hang this painting... Syrtinis/Richard of Test Message Edited by Syrtin on 06-02-2005 03:42 PM Message Edited by Syrtin on 06-02-2005 03:46 PM |

![]() Excellent idea! This also helps to solve the problem of moving items belonging to other people, which can truly be a pain, even when they're your own alts. Ashlian Liadan, 36 Fury, 32 Tailor of Mistmoore |

Brilliant idea. I didn't have half as much stuff as most people in my 1-room when I moved to an East Freeport 2-room, and it still involved me walking slowly, burdened, carrying boxes and making three trips to the bank. A moving day button is a brilliant idea.

I have never moved, so I'm not sure...but iirc there already is a button "collect all" in the house menu (when you click the door, or in the right click menu). Don't know exactly how it works, I suppose it just puts all the items on you, either inventory or overflow if there isn't enough room. You probably won't move every other day, so I think that is sufficient (you collect all, sell your house, move to the new area, buy house and place the stuff from your inventory). What would be helpful then: if there was a button "dump household" which would drop all the collected items from your inventory, so you don't have to place them immediately.

You should post this on agelidaes lair or the pub on eq2test rich.. Can't let an idea like this slip thru.. Would also help a whole lot with moving in to a new guild home as well. ...hmm... wonders if age will ever get one.. unless he already has one and just didn't tell anyone.. ..horse too slow. pulls off the saddle and looks around.. hmm.. here oogly oogly oogly.. ...naaa.. guess a barbarian in heavy plate wouldn't look all THAT good on a bear..

![]() If I remember, from when I was moving, "collect all" doesn't use the overflow but gives you an error when you've filled your inventory (which happens -fast- when you have a lot of stuff). I didn't lose anything, but I had to "collect all" more than once. If "collect all" went to overflow, that would be a solution, too, but would only work for your own stuff, not for anything anyone else had placed. |

Great idea! Moving as it is now is very annoying/tedious. I moved for the first time last week, and had to log in 4 different alts, completely empty my inventory, fill my bank, make 3 trips back and forth to the bank, all just to transfer all of my stuff to the new apartment.

![]() Incredible idea! Now can you add to that more housing options in all cities and a revamp of housing prices and upgrades? :smileywink::smileyvery-happy:
Seriously, I really do hope your idea gets some serious consideration. Moving from Castleview to NQ for me was a most traumatizing experience that took numerous trips and more time than I wanted it to.

![]() Thought I would bring this back to the top as the idea deserves another look considering the pain it is to move to Maj'Dul. Syrrok / Richard

![]() :smileyindifferent: Tell me about it...
It took me 2 days to make enough room between myself and alts to gather up everything and move to maj'dul... I am still unpacking and its a week later! :smileysurprised:

I have exactly the same idea since 4 months and in fact I'm waiting to see a patch saying that It's finally done to move from my newb appartment to a bigger one....And frankly this update would be easy: everything from the house transfered in a special crate that u put in your new houte to unload it. Maybe the 200+ people working on EQ2 could find some time to do it...

PLEASE impliment this idea!! I want to move. But my house is full with 200 items and i got 50 more in my bank. The thought of trying to move all of that makes me quiver in fear... so I just keep postponing...postponing..postponing... but now a moving day command would be really fun! And to be able to take each item out of a crate and place it..... WEEEEE hours of time sink bliss

![]() Boy if thats keepin ya from movin.....you must not want it bad enough :smileywink: I decided to move...again.... First I was in my little newB apartment. I didn't give two hoots back then. a guildie gave me a bed and i thought "now what the HECK am i to do with a bed??? i can't eat it, i can't wear it, its not part of a quest...."" Fast forward to 5 months later, when I became friends with two carpenters and a rich-boy, and fell in loev with their apartments overflowing in color and rare furniture. I've been poor ever since :/ So my fiance and I decided to share a 2-roomer in QH. I decorated it. then I quickly am hit with the "you have reached the item limit in this room".....and i thought "huh?????" so i tried putting something in the bedroom, thinking it was per-room...not house *LOL* Then I moved out ino my own QH room....his books and L&L weapons were surely what was killing my limit :smileywink: And now, with the advent of fairer housing for the working class, I'm moving to a 3-roomer in SQ. And I'm not about to go force my little froggie-carpenter into slave labor making me 8 briarwood boxes so that I have mroe bank room (that i only need for moving, and will hopefully not be moving again unless they implement a seriously high item limit in the 5-roomers)...and so, I pack up about 40ish things, run to al alts room, and dump off the items. My bank is full, one alt's room is full, i'm now on the second alts room. I suspect that i'm going to be in the state of "moving/unpacking" for a good two weeks :smileyindifferent: And of course since the layout totally changes from a 2-room to 3-room........i've really gotta rethink my fireplace and ktichen. Yeah. I'll be stuck atlvl 40 warlock for another month :smileyvery-happy:
