I actually like the anime style of some cloths it adds a good touch.  I do have to say well done they look very nice.  Only problem I see are the people or "Femenists" I guess they are called complaining about the clothing.  Saying that the costume is considered sexist or something but they probably wouldn't pay any attention.  I say go ahead devs lets see more of this sweet stuff :smileywink: .

Very Animish, but considering Anime comes from the East in which this whole Monk/Bruiserish stuff comes from, not bad.   I do have to say I like the style better than the minimalist approach currently in the game.  I understand monks in Norrath are supposed to be humble broke beggar types due to religious humility reasons, but that doesn't mean they have to run around wearing bandages like they're upper body gear.

I doubt feminism, or even conservative people are an issue in EQII, since the games been out long enough to the point where people are willing to do anything in order to get some skin. Now, if your talking about WoW, where the strong majority of female armor consist mostly of bikini, leggings, and one hell of a platemail wedgie, thats when its going a little far. To that degree, i don't think SoE even has a problem with it, considering all the concept art for EQII, Antonia Bayle, and in EQI where there was a certain kind of pants that literally let your rear hang out. The real question is, why aren't they adding it?

Personally i love it, having pajamas is nice and all, but the fabric might rip when a monk is doing all those kicks and stretches :smileywink:

The question is, what would it look like on the less human based races, the frogloks, Ratongas, the Kerra, and Iksar?Personally, I'd like to see some racial gear as well as class gear.

Designs means nothing if they were only being add for minority of people who raids with 0.1% chance of drop.

Beside not to mention, most of Gi's in game has pathetic stats completely making them useless in combat but just to show-off afk faking in QH or EF. I better have a common Gi that every monk & bruiser can have, a quest may be rather than "lewt for l33t", good stats for each tier but also casual outfit for combat, not just to show-off.

Remember a Gi only looks good in combat. Not near sea side to show to your other friends or to open you belly button, which completely opposite to monk teachings...

May be graphic art team can take some of sister game SWG, Jedi tunics for how real religious fighters can be instead of equalising monk = disco girl, beach boy for everyone.

Id love to see the devs take some of this and run with it.  it may actually start a wave of player created clothing and armour.  Wouldnt that be awsome? :smileyvery-happy:

As a monk myself, I don't know that I would agree with this statement.  I believe it depends on what sort of fighting you are doing.Personally, I belong to a small guild and spend most of my time duoing with my husband, who plays a templar.  I have attended a total of one raid with my monk, and was not the main tank at that time.  My husband and I have had a great deal of success in everything we have tried - so much so that it has surprised me.  At level 32, particularly when duoing with my husband, I can tank pretty much any blue, white, or yellow conning mob (there are some exceptions, of course.)  If I wish to solo, I am limited to ^^ at the very most, and some ^^ are too tough for me, but there are many that I can tank without too much trouble. My gear has looked something like this:
BANKED GEAR:
Rujarkan Gi (From my monk that I deleted and restarted, just to get the white newbie island gi)
Blood-drenched gi (From the same deleted and restarted monk)
Level 1-24: White gi from the Newbie Island.  Mitigation of 8.  Scrounged the best gear I could get my hands on for all other armor slots.  Here is a partial list of creatures I successfully fought while in the white island gi.  Note: sometimes I was the "main" tank, while at other times I was in a group where someone else was the "main" tank.
  • All AQ quest mobs.
  • ^^^ Griffons.
  • ^^^ Giants.
  • ^^^ Gnolls.
  • ^^^ Rumblers.
  • ^^^ and ^^ Centaurs.
  • Named Griffon Stonetalon.
  • Named AQ Griffon (Forget what his name was.)
Level 12: Heard about "caves" quest that gave old bruiser chestpiece graphic for reward ("Tranquil Blessing tunic.&quotSMILEY  Picked up chest piece and loved it.  Removed sleeves because they looked silly with it.Level 14: The "Tranquil Blessing tunic" debate erupts on the forums.  Devs state the graphic was a mistake and it will be swapped for a standard tunic graphic.  I bank the Tranquil Tunic, swear never to wear it again, and try to find something to take the bitter taste out of my mouth.  Re-equip the white, mitigation 8, newbie island gi and old, now-invisible sleeves.Level 20: Brief flirtation with "Dragon Stitched Robe" guild status reward.  Mitigation 38 (Woo!)  Subdued gray color, oriental dragons on back, very suitable for a monk.Level 21: Decided that the "Dragon Stitched Robe" was more suitable for town wear than for adventuring.  Swapped back to newbie gi graphic.Level 24: AQ finished woo!  New yellow gi is mine, yay!  Equipped it, loved it.Level 25: Heard rumor about new gi discovered in the Ruins.  Camped mob: success!  Stats are silly as it was meant to be worn around level 12 (not as good as the Tranquil Blessing tunic I banked.)  Equip it anyway since I like the brown and green color (I play a wood elf with ivy leaves in her hair.)Level 30: Unbank and equip Blood Drenched gi, which is what I am currently wearing.
If I hadn't had the blood-drenched banked from my previous monk, I would probably be wearing my AQ's straight through to my 50's.  As it is, I plan to wear the blood-drenched through to my 50's, then upgrade to Rujarkin and Ashen Order. In short:In the course of my career, I have worn 5 gis.  While it is not to be denied that I could have found tunics with superior stats to the gis, I have had absolutely no trouble tanking anything that was even reasonable within my level.  Furthermore, a better tunic, taken by itself, would not have enabled me to tank anything my gi did not allow me to tank anyway.  If I cannot tank the orange ^^^ in my gi, I also will not be able to tank the orange ^^^ in a better tunic.Gis are not just to show off, and they work fine for adventuring in.  I admit that they probably would not be suitable to be the main tank in a raid, but as I doubt I will ever pursue that role, it is not a problem for me.But we certainly need more gis!  Way, way more gis!I love the picture - any chance of posting more?Jen SMILEYPS.  If you do any more in this series, I would love to see a monk with wrapped fists.  My favorite type of weapons are called "fist wraps" which have always made me envision a fighter with their hands wrapped in strips of cloth....Jen SMILEY

PLEASE SOE, This esp goes out to the art department and MG who PLAYS A BRUISER. Give the brawlers the look that we want. At lvl 1 we start out in Gis. At lvl 60 there is 1 GI worth wearing and atm there is 2 people on my server that have it cause its so hard to get. I'm not saying make that Gi easy to get. Those people earned it. Hire this person they have great ideas.

Nothing new yet but here is some junk drawings to distract you for now :smileyvery-happy:

Top left and right are concept ideas for a a potential story on the left is a Ranger type clothing on a wood elf, and the left is a Nercomancer human. The middle is an aborted attempt at redoing the caster robes (Needed to use anatomy more so it got junked, BTW the character is Jimaska a guild member on befallen) The Monk kicking is Klornie my Monk (her left leg is giving me fits still can't get it to look right:smileytongueSMILEY to the right of her is a quick sketch of a dress concept that someone's shirt inspired me today.

Evil Gnome Necromancer with Skeletal Monk, this one is pretty old EQ1[note the Ulaks]

Old concept art for a current idea, already changed some of it. Ignore the kid in the cargo pants on the right LOL. The girl on the left is a cute necromancer prodigy, the one in the middle would be in EQ2 terms a Conjurer the kid just uses an aluminum bat.

Although ordinarily I prefer to see my EQ2 toons actually WEARING armor, as opposed to chainmail bikinis -- these monk/bruiser designs are actually pretty dang parallel to the male versions of the same class.  My human male bruiser doesn't wear a shirt at all!  SMILEY

I have to hit you for anime style. Personally, I hate it. It wouldn't be so bad for a monk I'll grant you, but a bruiser? Definitely not. I see bruiser gear - both male and female - much more akin to something you'd see out of Mad Max. Black leather and badass! Bruisers are more akin to bouncers at biker bars - IMO - than Shaolin monks. I'd love to see something a little more "post-apocalyptic" for official brusier gear.

That sort of thing is a lot more "brusier-ish" IMO.

While I personally dislike anime as a style, that is my personal taste. I agree that you have a lot of talent, your sketches are great even if they aren't up my alley, and while I wouldn't want to see them enter eq2 necessarily in the forms presented - I do whole-heartedly agree that they need to liven things up a bit and add some artistic personality to the player characters in game.In its intended design I could see your artwork in a Final Fantasy title - but with a bit of change and comprimise (you know, those words that understandably make artists gag) it could be meshed into the setting/theme that is EQ2...and lord knows they could use some unique inspiration around there! **edit** when I say this I am referring specifically to character visible armor/clothing/equipment, not any other aspect. I want to be sure that if i offend an artist that I am only offending the ones who handle that area :smileysurprised:

BTW the Bruisr's Gi was leather including the loose pants. The leather is also studded with metal bits for more pain to hit. BTW the Boots are steel-toed as in "These boots are made for stompin'!"

I don't have a Bruiser but there are 2 in my guild.

Never played Final Fantasy only have a gamecube. :smileytongue:
