Hey there,
another typical n00b post on class's. I played EQ2 when it first came out and wasent to happy after having played EQlive for 6+ years.I switched over to World or warbore. Now i have been checking back into EQ2 and like the changes they have made.(babling) Point is im trying to decide between a swash and an assassin. Would just like any feeback from vets who know the class's well.I always play a rogue class and to me the assassin seems like a great single target dps'r . Though the swash looks like it has better abilitys all around with a bit less dps . Is this a good observation of the 2 class? or am i off the mark.Of course im looking for the fun factor though everyone will say there class is more fun ).
Thanks any info would be great--

Swashy:- good (qeynos)- good AOE attacks.  2 AOE with 1 skill that procs AOE.  (I think.  Sorry if I got this wrong).- Utility - group stealth, powerful offensive debuffs, hate transfer in group, good tank (best non-tank tank by far)- good dps, in the top5- class hat at T7 is hamburgler- mix of frontal & back attacks.  effective either wayAssassin:- evil (freeport)- dps king of single target- 2 respectable AOEs (both from stealth)- hate transfer (in group) & poison buff are mediocre to average buffs- class hat at T7 is ninja mask- back attacksIf you want versatility go with Swashy.  If you want to be the DPS king go Assassin.  I have a 70 assassin as my main and I like the class, being tops on the parse.  That having been said I am enjoying my baby brigand (evil rogue) quite a bit.  I think both classes are awesome.  A good swashy is not far behind a good assassin in dps.In a raid setting both classes are seen as very important contributors.  Swashies are often in the main tank or off tank group with their hate transfer.  Assassins are usually in DPS group and sometimes in MT group with their HT.

Swashys class hat isn't the hamburger hat thats brigand. Swashbucklers get a dandys hat, wide brimed, one side folded up with a big ole feather in it.PvP they are more or less even, if I was Evil id go assy, good id go swash. (Rangers are meh)Pve solo a swash would be 500 times easier then an assy. Small group it would also bring more to the table. Don't get me wrong I love my assy, but I take a hit about as well as a wet napkin full of holes.

I'll agree Assassin's are a real DPS King, I still manage to parse top somefights when im in the MT Grp of a raid (feeding hate), and a swashie is in Scout grp. But if they put me in a Scout Grp, no one is gonna touch me SMILEY, cept Swashie will prolly win with a mutlple encounter.

I wish I was in the DPS group SMILEY I normally get placed in MT group because they keep laughing at me on TeamSpeak when the mobs turn and slap the Sheep out of me. Even at 56 the lvl 70 Guard was having troubles keeping the stupid mob off me. Mind you it would be like a single hit and back to the tank, but at 56 that one hit normally dropped me. I don't normally get times to lower my DPS with hexing or debuffs as they need the DPS and ask me to hit full force from the start. Although, upgraded Deagro's are a huge help, once I hit 58 I see that mobs face less and less.My words to you would be, if you want to be the one that causes a mob to go down like a tank of gas in an oldsmobile, go assassin. If you want to be the primary Debuffer, take the rogues.
