So I just read a post which mentioned assassin's mark as a skill being used in some combat situation.  Last I checked (Which, admittedly was a while ago), assassin's mark did absolutely nothing and was completely and utterly broken.  Has this been changed?

It is not broken for me SMILEY I use it every heroic fight almost, goes off 99% of the time... in long fights i can even use it 2 or 3 times no problem...

So i would say it is not broken SMILEY

not broken. This is useful on raids, more then anywhere else. Every time the mob is hit.. it's got a chance for that proc. That doesn't mean every time you hit the mob... anyone in the raid can proc it.

It was broken for ages but they did fix it now.  You should see it in your maintained window when cast and then when someone procs it they do the damage from it so it won't always show as your damage unless you are soloing.

I agree, its an exellent skill.  I have noticed something interesting though - I was in a guild group forming for Varsoon a couple days ago when we noticed doomsquall was up.  We decided to take him, although we didnt know anything about him.  We were a group of 50's mentoring down to me - 39 at the time.

Of course we soon found he is immune to slashing and piercing...  so while everyone else swapped weapons I was left twiddling my thumbs.  I kept torment up and also assassins mark, however it didnt proc once in the 10 minute long fight.  Which got me thinking maybe the assassin has to be able to melee the mob for the chance of a proc.

Anyone else noticed anything like this?

When assassins Mark procs it does piercing damage. Since , as you said, doomsquall is immune to piercing the skill doesn't work on him. It probably did proc during that fight, but was just immuned out and didn't take effect.

Aye that also crossed my mind, but the skill doesn't describe what type of dmg it does... I always assumed it was magic dmg.

Thanks for clearing it up :smileyhappy:

Actually the skill does describe what type of damage it does if you read the entire skill message. At the top of the skill it says "blah blah that causes extreme agonizing piercing damage"  So while it doesn't list off the damage at the bottom of the skill (for some odd reason), it says what type of damage it is as the top.

This is such an excellent skill, and used for so long (it has no replacement to the best of my knowledge, but who knows what will happen in coming expansions etc) that I made a point to make this my first Adept III skill. I have no regretted that expense, either.

Worth every copper. :smileyhappy:

Yeah i gota agree this is a great CA....even used it when soloing it went off 2 out of 3 times used in adept 1 form on orc lumbrejacks in zek

Think most people who think it sucks is because when you get it at lower levels first off you got the ap 1 version that only goes off a 1% of the time (adept 1 is 2%....master 1 is 3%)...you have less haste and mobs have less hp...

I actualy am looking for the Master 1 version (anyone know what mob drops it...must be a T2 raid mob??)

The adept III version has a 3% chance to proc too. And since the CA is T3 the master I version will drop of a T3 mob too, doesn't have to be a raid mob either every mob has a chance on a masterchest.

Don't leave home without it :smileywink: This thing seems to proc for me almost every time. I don't know if its just because as duel wielders we hit so frequently that the odds are good but i constantly see damages in the 250 to 375 type range ticking off.  I believe that when it is applied others in the group may proc it as well or at least it was that way. i remember a monk commenting ya gotta love that assassins mark.
