With the next Live Update, /duels ( like in EQ 1 ) are coming . Not an essential part of the game but it will sure be fun to beat the crap out of your friends :smileyhappy: But ... Will we be efficient in that ? I mean ... no stealth attacks, prolly not positionnals attacks who are hard to land in a player duel ... Maybe just bow specials will help ... So what's your advice ? :smileysurprised:

Depends who you are up against honestly.  A fighter or priest is less likely to see sneak and even some mages but going against some wizard with adept 3 ice comet will essentially be a one shot death unless they tone it down quite a bit which means they will likely tone down some of our big hitters as well.  I think its more for fun than anything else and if you want skill based dueling you will need to wait for the expansion and its arena battles.

As long as other classes aren't treated like epic mobs, you can always kite them to death :smileyvery-happy:

But on a serious note, using good poisons and placing ranged attacks when needed should be enough to make a fair opponent

I was on the test server today as a level 5 scout, and I can tell you that back attacks are easy. You can just run behind them because they don't turn with you on autoattack like npc's do. Also, they should probably fix sneaking in dueling because if they don't, we're going to dominate. When I sneak in a duel, the person I'm dueling loses their target on me. I guess this would be more fair at higher levels when people have items and spells that cast see invisable. At low levels it just doesn't seem fair.

Edit: wow just read about it.. this is insane. I'm so happy SMILEY And ERROR, if it's true about people losing target on sneak.. well lol. May the slaughtering begin.

hahaha! Exactly. I mean, people with the eye patch will still be able to see and target us, but I believe we'll be a pretty feirce class for dueling. I'm hoping that what we lack in grouping abilitys will be made up in our dueling ability. We'll just have to wait till next week for hte test updates to be pushed to live. I don't have a high level assassin on the test server, but it would be nice to hear from one. Anyone?

Hopefully they'll create a toggle that you will never accept duel invites or else my ignore list is going to get very big. I can see it now: Roxorjoo has invited you to a duel! The eyepatch increases "see invisible", not "see stealth"

Me and a few guildies the other day went over to test to give ol dueling a try. Its currently bugged FYI to all those that want to try. You can duel, but one of you will have to log out if you wish to duel again with anyone else. I must warn you, my gear on test is crap. Just normal gear (no fabled and no adapt3/masters) I was copied over to test prebloodlines for testing and I haven't gotten around to ask for a recent copy. 50 Assassin Vs 50 Ranger: This was a pretty decent fight, a lot of invising/stealth attacking. As well as arrows. I shocked the ranger with my ability to do decent dmg with my bow. He had some trouble hitting me, and I couldn't get behind him for the life of me. (In duels you autoface..which really screws with me trying to get behind the player). I beat him 3 out of 3 times, I was dissapointed in assassinate doing only 1.5k dmg (hardly worth while) however I think all in all I did very well vs him. Winner: Assassin 3-0 50 Assassin Vs 50 Templar Just a quick FYI, we outfit our priest to have as much in combart regen as possible. This guy never lost any power. He could keep constant heals on himself and manastone/regen it back. He wiped the floor with me . His DD's and autoattack pretty much sealed the deal. I would stealth and do all my high dmg attacks, only to have him toss "a" heal and go back to 100%. I think priests will pretty much own in duels for the moment. Winner: Cleric 1-0 50 Assassin Vs 50 Guarden This was a interesting fight. I don't feel that I had a chance with my gear. Our Main tank (Noah) is the best tank outfitted I have seen. And he wiped the floor with me as well.  I did better agaist him than I did the cleric, however this guy was hard. He snared me, stunned me, and beat my [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] into the ground. I did get him down to 50%, and with my better gear plus adapt 3's I think I could get him to 25% possiblly take him out with some decent strats, but this guy is good. Winner: Warrior 2-0 50 Ranger Vs 50 Guarden I didn't see a whole lot of this fight, I know that Noah stomped the ranger into the ground. I was dueling the cleric at the time so I have no idea what happened to be honest, but the warrior won. Winner: Warrior1-0 50 Guarden Vs 50 Templar This fight was as boring as watching grass grow. I would have rather watched my dogs hump each other. The priest had a unlimited amount of mana (as I said before) and the warrior had a HUGE amount of life/ac. The priest nuked and pounded on him. The warrior tried just about every strat possible in a attempt to get him down. The fight went on for the better part of 15 minutes before I stopped watching. The priest won, but it was boring. Winner- Priest 1-0 Just tossing out a bit of the testing we did. As I stated before its currently bugged. The winner of the duel will remain in combat. Not to mention the loser WILL take debt and equipment dmg. So be fore warned. Overall I was a little dissapointed in my dmg out put. Its hard to get behind the player and jousting doesnt really work because of autoface.  However its nice to have PVP and I am going to love killing guild mates over and over SMILEY Xminos Fires of Heaven Permafrost

"killing guild mates over and over"

Just so long as they arent a Priest, Warrior, or Mage.

I imagine a Brigand will whip our arses too.

So it sounds like we can take Rangers (close fight) and thats about it.

if it remains true after going live the you will autoface your enemy, then i would have to say that we are pretty much hosed in the dueling department.  if we cant get behind them then how do we do any damage.  to me that just blows.  however if sneak works and they loose target, that could be pretty cool.

Ahh, they have stated a lot of times PvE and PvP are done on different tables. Sure, they might nerf some but it won't affect PvE at all.

Well Warlocks get various see invisibility and see stealth buffs, so you cant really sneak them.

They can also root assasins to make them only use their bow.

It could always go:

Bony Grasp (unbreakable root)

Aura of Darkness (9 second stun = no ranging)

Nil Distortion (2k hit)

Devastation (600 hit then tick 4 times for 500s)

Mind you, you never know what they will do with the combat balancing and how they will change nukes in the dueling areana.

I'm sure Putka as well as most everyone else knows how a warlock works.  This was meant as a joke, you momo warlocks needn't come here to defend yourselves :p

Hate to burst your bubble on this one but Furies get see invis in their lion form....other priests probably get this as well in their animal form.

I dont see how letting assassins use stealth is unfair, its a class ability.  What would be unfair is not allow them to use stealth.
