![]() I am a 33 Ranger that has mostly played a Warden. So far I have been able to do well this this character. Last night a group of us, all 33 went to Nek for XP. We were just killing what ever we ran into. The group was a Zerker, Ranger (me), Dirge, and 2 Furies. The Dirge was logging fights and parsing the results. As long as the mobs were yellow con and lower I did the most DPS. When we ran into some SOLO orange con Talons My DPS went to almost zero. The healers were out DPSing me while healing at the sametime. The log showed parry, parry, miss, miss, resist, parry, etc. NO CA's hit, NONE. The only thing that hit is my auto attacks, 1 out of 5. I was using the summoned arrows and the best lvl posion my Alchy could make with a imbued Oak longbow. My Agi is 151 Str 142, Is this normal?, because if it is I am going back to my Warden. |

I have found that it is normal for my ability to hit mobs that are orange to me to drop WAY off from ones that are yellow, the same way that I find that the damage that I take from green mobs drops WAY off from the damage done to me by blue mobs. The difference in levels between you and the mob matters ALOT, especialy when you cross the green-blue and yellow-orange thresholds. And I have found this no matter what level I have been, was true back when I was in my 30s, is still true for me at level 58.

It's normal. Only because the level difference is so high.

Is it possible that the orange mobs were also Monk types? Trying to hit an orange con Monk-classed mob with CAs/bow/melee is practically an exercise in futility--while casters have no problems landing spells on such... That would explain why the Furies would out-DPS you on those particular mobs.

I have seen this on certain MoBs in Bonemire (animals at that). They were orange ^^^ and I could NOT get a shot to land. The good news is, NO this is not the norm, There are plenty of orange ^^^ I CAN hit, but it's not worth the time on average to do so...

Orange can be hit, its just difficult. We'll use the bonemire example real fast. Mobs were orange, 1 level orange that is, and from the front, I couldn't hit the mobs but with a 1 in 10 frequency. Stun the mobs and get behind them and its a different story. Mobs only parry from the front(well for the most part). In group situations taking on orange con ^^^ mobs 1-2 levels above me I still have a hard time hitting them but it is possible. If you can get your dibilitating arrow to land and reduce their parry, then hit em with the Snipe line and reduce their defense, you'll have a better chance. In group dynamic you also have others debuffing so that goes a long way to helping you out.

![]() Rangers simply have problems hitting orange mobs with bows... its always been that way. If you look at old raid parses from court of alfaz and such, a ranger would be doin double to triple the damage of other classes on mobs like moonchild, but about 300-400 more dps on orange mobs like sunny... Whenever i have trouble with arrows, i step in and melee. Ive always melee's the creature of beauty in pp... found my damage is almost double. This is the only circumstance I feel that rangers SHOULD have to step in however... It makes sense to me that arrows are easier to avoid when you can get almost 6 or 7x as many swings in with dualies...(no idea if the 6 or 7x is right, but its a ton more swings heh) *Edit* we also have a few CA's that lower the defense of mobs... get their slashing and parrying defense down a bit then swing away... We also lower mob's fire resist a lot, which ive found helps casters out a bit when grouping with us... Message Edited by Steezity on 03-12-200603:13 PM |
