Ok, so I learned something yesterday and I'm going to share just in case there is anyone else that was clueless. LOL

You can purchase Iron Hunting Arrows from the vendor in the Willow Wood near the Graveyard.

I learned this from a fellow ranger on the world ranger chat channel last night. Talk about excited!!! I had no idea that you could buy those from a vendor! I've been stocking up on them everytime I see them on the merchant board. All I have to say is...5 silver per stack is WAY better than 5 gold per stack!

Yah...so I invested in a second quiver specifically for my shiny new vendor purchased slashing arrows! Woot!

Thanks for the info..and figured I'd pass this along in case I'm not the last Ranger to know. LOL

(btw, for younger Rangers, some mobs are immune to pierce, and so having slashing arrows on hand is pretty important - particularly in raiding situations)

I usually buy my Hunting arrows from the merchant in Maj'dul.  When you zone in and go through the big wooden doors, he's the first guy on the left, very easy to get to.  He only sells the Fulginate Hunting Arrows, they cost a little over 3 Gold a stack.  Just so everyone is clear, your Combat Abilites are not affected by arrow tier (tin, iron, feyiron, fulginate...) but your Auto-ranged Attack is.  We may not use Auto-ranged that much, but when it is used, the damage difference is huge.

The arrow type makes so little diffrents it is not worth ever using high end arrows... Everyone keeps tell me how much more damage they do with Fulg arrows at 3 gp a stack.  So I parsered it... 20 stacks of Iron Hunting arrows at 1gp and 20 stacks of Fulg Hunting arrows at 60gp... Poisons I am using arePhantasmic Visions :Stun target for 4 sec (15% proc rate 30 Proc)Bite of the Shissar :-871 disease/poison mitigation (20% proc rate 80 Proc)Adeste Disruption Rare :508dd + 82dd + 79/tick (25% proc rate 200 Proc)At level 58 I ran Roost, Vault of Dust, and Started The Santorium once each night killing everything in the zone. I made it 6 more mobs into the Samtorium with the Fulg Hunting arrowsStats self buffed Str 177 Int 177 Agi 220 Sta 185 Wis 156

Iron ArrowsI did 48% of my damage from poison procs, 6% from weapon proc, 5% from self buff proc, Combat Arts 36% , Auto-Fire 5% Total Int based damage was 58%Total Str Based damage was 42%Average DPS per shot 825

Fulg ArrowsI did 48% of my damage from poison procs, 6% from weapon proc, 5% from self buff proc, Combat Arts 35% , Auto-Fire 6% Total Int based damage was 58%Total Str Based damage was 42%Average DPS per shot 833Over all damage output was a 1.009% increase... For 59gp

Thanks for the above info.  I'd wondered about that.

I have a ton of iron slashers that I carry, but I was wondering if it was worth it to upgrade a bit.  Now I know.  I'm also glad I'm buffing my Int...

You can also buy cheap Iron Hunting arrows from the merchant by the Lighthouse in Antonica.  Very easy and quick to get to by using any of the Bells in Qeynos to zone to Antonica.  Stacks of 99 are around 8s or somewhere close to that.

Use Curse of the Djinn debuff poison (debuffs slash resist) and you'll get some real nice hits with these little T2 arrows.

The village merchants (Willow Wood, etc) all sell them as well.  Not to hard to come by...

I am running a 3rd party parser program that sorts the combat /log.  Do a search for EQ2 Parser... They are pretty easy to run and will tell you what is going on in the combat.

Nice Info, Blixx000, thank you SMILEYOne more thing: Can you state on what level your combat arts where (most apprentice or possibly most at master), since this should have impact on the str-based damage vs. int-based damage ratio.I'd like to parse my damage for myself, but since i'm playing the german EQ2-version, there's pityfully no suitable parser.Thank you,tom1301

Sorry you are correct... All of my skill are at Adept3 and all my gear is Legendary crafted...

I was also running stun poisons full time for best arrow damage... My melee weapons were both piercing damage so I could exclude the damage from the arrows.

I think the point of the OP was to indicate another source of slashing arrows for use against pierce-resistant mobs.
