I am currently level 42 and I am trying to figure out where to go for my next leveling zone. 1-42 I have mainly been soloing with some grouping thrown in here and there. I have been mostly doing quests for XP and I have been doing pretty good so far, not having to grind for XP at all. The thing that I am confused with is up until this point there has been plenty of solo content to chomp on. But now that I am getting to the point where I want to move on from Feerrott in a level or so I am confused as to where to go.

Both EF and LS have been suggested to me on the Ranger channel but so far from what I have seen of both of these zones they look to be built more for groups than any other outdoor zone I have seen so far, there are tons of ^ ^ ^ agro mobs everywhere. There also do not appear to be as many solo quests in these zones as in previous zones that I have hunted in. (unless the quest NPCs are just hidden better)

Have I finally reached a point where I need to start grouping religiously? Or where I just need to suck it up and start grinding mobs instead of doing quests for the majority of my XP?

Feerrott should still have lots of places to hunt, and it's definitely a bit easier than EF or LS. Plus, there are tons and tons of quests there and a chance at getting a tattered robe in a box.

Yep.  Many of the Feerrott quests come from item drops, or inspecting an alter or bush or something.  There are two camps full of quest givers, not far into the zone, to get you started though.  One is for Qeynos folks, the other for Freeporters.Everfrost is great for writs, if you feel like it.  It has tons of quests, too, but many require groups.  (And many are mislabelled as to whether they're solo or group.)

I have been in Feerrott for the last 4 levels. I went there when I hit level 38 and I have been doing nothing but quests the whole time. Other than taking some time off to do a couple HQs all of my XP for the last 4 levels has come from doing every single quest I can find in Feerrott. I have already cleared the main Qeynos quest camp of quests with the exception of the last catalogue quest which requires me to catalogue Bouncer Hurd. (I am pretty sure that Bouncer Hurd does not want his picture taken tho...)I have also done every click this rock and go kill 15 of X mobs quests that I could find. (I even went through all the POIs off EQmaps one by one to make sure that I didn't miss any) SMILEY I even did the stupidly long and annoying A vision of Fear quest, which I found out later was an access quest for a zone that I already had access to when I turned 38. (God I was so mad when I found that out) I think I have maybe 7 or 8 quests left that I have discovered to clear out of my quest log and I am sure that there are a couple more that need to be done still, but for the most part I am almost done with quests in the Feerrott AFAIK. (I guess I should go through a spoiler site and make sure of this)

I guess my main question and the point of this post is that I am now in unknown waters as far as where to go. I am not an MMORPG n00b, I am just used to being able to quests as my main source of XP for the last 42 levels and I am wondering if that has just changed. As I said both EF and LS look to be group zones more than any other outdor zone I have seen so far.

I guess the point of my babling is that I am just trying to figure out if it's time to start grouping primarily or start solo grinding XP mobs. SMILEY

I hit Sinking Sands somewhere between 40 and 42.  Very easy killing along the beach with lots of down arrow mobs to solo, and around 44 or 45 I moved up to the Orc Highway.  The exp is great in this zone for the low T5 levels.  Plus you can invis and discover new areas giving you yet more exp and there are many "kill a certain number of things" quests for even more exp.

I also like that it's a desert.  No heroics sitting behind trees and rocks.  And it's very easy to get to.  Zone in right from Qeynos Harbor.

Oops.  Sorry Menion.  I got distracted and confused about what you were asking.  I certainly don't mean to second guess your feeling that it's time to move on.Sinking sands has some fun stuff, as soon as mobs start to turn yellow.  I think that at 42, though, they'll all be orange.  I could be mistaken.Everfrost doesn't have the huge variety that Feerrott does, but there should be enough to keep you busy for a while.

Thanks for the advice, I was not trying to sound like a jerk by listing the Feerrott quests that I did I was mearly pointing out that I had done a lot of the quests there already. I went to SS lastnight and I did a bunch of quests and made a level and a half. SMILEY

Woot!  WTG.  SS really rocks for the T5 levels for exp and it's not over-crowed either.  Last Night while mentoring my wife's templar, a master chest dropped from a  down arrow Dervish over by the the southern PoF entrance.  It had an assassin lvl 46 M1.  That was unexpected, but not as unexpected as when she traded it to a guildy for some fireplace making materials.  Doh!
