![]() Well a LOT has changed... spell lvls actually mean something now (adept3 is always better than adept1, from the same spell/CA of course) Spells / CAs no longer grow with you and they no longer have con colors, except white = you can use the spell, red = cannot use it, grey = you have a more powerful version in your book already, pls use it Same thing with armour, white means you can use it, red = you cant, grey = dunno exactly but i think its not good if you wear grey armor (not sure does it affect mitigation / avoidance?) We also got stances, offensive stance for bow attacks (which i recommend), defensive stance (to be used in tougher melee battles) and melee offensive stance (i never use this, but i suppose it has its uses, mainly if ya like to melee a lot) Our snares actually work now, we have also nice snaring CA:s (hmm from lvl 44 (?) leg shot) and our backshot attacks (culling the herd and better, lvl 40+ anyway) Also lvl 52 thorny trap is a group root, which makes some dmg when it lands. The higher lvl ranger has some nice CA:s, so its worthvile to make some lvls I sugges you clear your hotkeys and fool around somewhere to learn things again, since the whole combat thingy is changed a lot. Basically we do the same things as before, start with bow attacks and finish with melee. Kiting is also possible, some say its not as viable as before, some (like me) say its has as much or even more potential than before, go figure But, read some threads from the ranger forum here... im sure you'll find great info there. Soloareas.. hmm well they kinda have made most areas a lot more solo friendly. Like TS, and EL for example. I'd recommend EL for you definitely, it has some quests to do (some nice soloquest line also) and lotsa solo mobs. Hope this helps atleast some.

Also, if you didn't use poisons before, you'll definitely want to start now; poisons are a *huge* part of ranger damage output. Use EQ2Alchemy to browse, talk to some alchemists, or just search on the broker. Combat arts that put us into stealth now automatically turn off autoattack. Tracking shows a dot where your target is on your map. Shards are gone. When you die, you just lose a small amount of xp, take damage to your equipment, and lose your poison/totem effects. Food isn't cancelled by death though. Speaking of food, different foods now give stat bonuses. Fish is for AGI, I think. Steaks are for STR. That's all I remember; but you can inspect foods and find out what they do. You can sell stuff while offline by putting it in your house vault. You can access it by clicking on your door from within your house. You'll need a market bulletinboard to sell, too.

![]() i think one very important change for Rangers (or scouts in general): Cheap Shot for the win! :smileyvery-happy: it now stuns all mobs without up arrows for the full 6 seconds, and others for 2 seconds (read description of spell). pretty important when soloing. pull the mob with big bow hits, some more while it is charging you. then debuff - cheap shot it, back up, pump in some more arrows (or do some backstabbing). check out your offencive and defensive stance. they can be toggled, either one or the other (or none of both). with my defensive stance i can get my avoidance to 60%. with the offensive i can kick butt. :smileywink: the mellee one is the level 18 offensive stance. when you get the upgraded ones that one is not worth using anymore imo. you may have a ranged proc instead of mellee proc on the higher ones, but your mellee (and bow) skills get a greater increase with the higher offencive stances. 'Hunt' now is the only stealth skill for general out of combat use. it scales to your level, so it never will grey out. the deaggro CA 'Evade' now has a whole CA line. so you will get upgraded versions of that skill every 14 levels as well. the 'Makeshift Arrows' skill now has a whole line too. the higher ones make higher arrows. some bow combat arts can't be used while moving anymore. but (i think) they increased the range on the bow arts. and damage / cast time / recast time has been adjusted. as xandez said, clear the hotbars and check out the skills when filling the bars again. stun poison (Touch of the Beholder) is very useful on tough mobs. another thing is that avoidance is now influenced by the armor type. heavier armor gives less avoidance. although it may not be much. the con system of the mobs has changed a bit. now some heroics are ^^^. epics are ^^^ as well, but are marked as 'epic x 2' (or x3 or x4). don't have any gear quest tips for you. i tend to buy most stuff, and just do quests as i go along; so i end up selling most rewards.

probably a question of having more options to look something up. and what class you are/want to be. not all classes are in that list (yet). -------------------------- Message Edited by jarlaxle888 on 12-19-2005 04:52 PM |

![]() he! i know Rangers rule. but give alts a chance, hehe :smileyvery-happy: anyway, i was just writing my post with the eq2player links when you posted. but i still thought it's good to submit my post anyway to give those listings too, cause they list em level wise; which in some cases may be prefered. -------------------------- Ryilan Nightbreeze -------------------------- |

I was playing SWG, and when considering coming back to EQ2 the only reason I almost didn't was that I feel really bad giving SOE my money... I still do, its like rewarding a company for wasting your time! But what I have seen of EQ2 so far is making me happier.... Its evident that this game is basically a less cartooney version of WoW, and you know what, that is Aces with me! I am really enjoying this game now.
