Newbie Ranger here, new to EQ2 as well. I am having a blast playing my young ranger. I love the different bow attacks, and diving in with some melee at times as well. Love the positioning and the tactics involved. My concern and question is this: Stream of Arrows seems too good. Once you get that skill, do you find you simply use that CA and nothing else.
I have NO idea of the endgame in EQ2 but I would be bored as hell if I just had to hit one button and then just sit back. From what I gather, the only time you would not use it is if you gathered too much hate. Otherwise its better than everything else?
By the way, particularly in groups. I could see its use solo as well, but in groups SOA would seem to be the only CA you would need on your hotbar.

No, it isn't a one-stop solution to every situation, at all. For one, it's just not practical all the time. For two, it doesn't do all of the things that all of my other ranged CAs can do. It doesn't snare or debuff, it's only one shot at at time, and it roots and stifles me for 30 seconds. It's definitely not a panacea, and it's not without its downsides. It's a great addition to your arsenal at 55, but that's all that it is - an addition, not a replacement for everything else.

Yes, if anything it now fills that gap where I used to run in an melee while my bow arts recycled.  But half the time I end up cancelling stream of arrows when it has about 10 seconds left because the risk of pulling aggro is huge... even if I use evade and surveil arts immediately before triggering stream.  Like another poster said, it is also much more effective if you've used debilitating arrow and snipe beforehand... so it's never my opening act.

It was the perfect soloing tool when it had a 0 range, now it is really good for getting aggro off a healer when they pull it off the tank, but the aggro is too insane to use all the time.  As much as I miss the soloing with it, it seems to be very well balanced.

IF your grouping you tend to use it less mainly because no monster will last long enough. Because our spell that does best dmg would be triple arrow (next to snipers shot, but thats 15 min timer and 5 sec cast time.) So after you use triple arrow and another CA the mob will be dead if your with a full group. And regardless to what Fensor said stream of arrows is still jsut as useful to solo as it was befor. We just now have to cast it 5 meters away frim target and if mob comes within 5 meters you will still shoot arrows off. But no it does not replace all other CA's but still tonnes of fun to use.

Was testing this out last night and no you can't engage it at 0 range but as long as you turn it on prior to the mob getting to you you'll still fire at 0 range.

I use it on harder mobs or when I'm the only DPS in the group. My team understands that the mob will eventually come beat on me so there are no complaints as they all understand that the faster the mob dies the faster we can kill. Besides if I time it right during the fight, the mob will only have one or 2 arrows worth of life left to it by the time it gets to me. Stream is a great utility skill to use while your other CA's refresh.  It most definitely does not make all your other skills obsolete.

Its really the advantage of having a skill that do streaming dps for non power cost 30 sec nothing else.

Once its duration is over you have to wait another 30 sec before you can trigger it again.

Stream basically make the ranger a burster and constant dps at the same time together with other skills thats why I love it so much and probl the reason why every one else does too. When you die and get rezzed and only got power for two debuff skills then you sure as heck know stream is there to make you do your work as t1 dps dispite you just died and came back blank.

Compensate our lousy bow autoattack damage so you might see stream as our version of melee autoattack in efficienty if you want.
