I wonder if there is any particular advice as a rangers (predator at the moment) crafter? I initially thought sage, making it able to create my own skills, however tailorring for creating light armor for myself sounds like a nice pick too, but then I thought about being able to make my own arrows, however...it occurred to me, that arrows need several sources of materials...so it has to be done in combination with a partner.

I as of yet havent found a guild yet, so for now I'm bound to have to provide for myself. Quite frankly I'm at a loss now, and hesitant to make my choice (lvl 9 150% exp)

What crafting direction do you think would benefit yourself the most, in a rangers(predator) perspective?

You could always go Alchemist so that you can craft your own poisons.  That is what I plan on doing once I ever get around to it.

not really sure what u should be either but:

1.for us scouts jewelers make spell upgrades and not sages(only make for priests and mages)

2.u dont want to be a tailor since u will be using medium armor once u become a ranger

other then this i have no idea....

thats an...odd decision...jewelers making scout skill upgrades. Jeweler itself doesnt look like a popular profession...I might take that up.

Alchemist for potions and poisons or a Jeweler for your scout runes, or a woodworker for your bows, or armorer for your chain armour, tailor for your leather armor/hex dolls - basically - any class except sage is useful to you. As for needing other classes to provide materials for a woodworker, every crafting class is self sufficient and doesn't need to rely on another artisan class for materials, however it's not worth it to make arrows for yourself other than for xp for your woodworker. They take an awfully long time to make too with about 6 precombines and 1 final combine and you have a summon arrows combat art every tier anyways.

Edit to this. Crafter classes are only self-sufficent by taking up the cross-class skills like Thaumaturgy. So you still need to work up skill in everything you want to craft, just these allow you to do it on a single char. But you cannot make all the things you need with a single basic tradeskill class. You have to use these skills.

I'm a jeweler and I've always kept my TS level at or above my ADV level.  Not only do jewelers make runes for skill upgrades, but we also make the poison vials and potion bottles.  We make jewelry and imbue rings (very nice).  And, because I keep my thurmagy and geomancy skills (spelling?) maxed, I don't have to buy inks or spikes for the runes.

I feel I'm much better off than if I had chosen to be an alchie because there are tons of alchies in the game and all I have to do to get poisons/potions is mail a stack of vials/bottles with a shopping list and a few gold, for their time and expense.

The only real down side is that jewelers don't normally get rich.  The dropped and quested jewelery is usually about as good or better than most crafted stuff.  But if you want a tradeskill for the sole purpose of complimenting your adventure skills, you can't go wrong as a jeweler.

Of course, it would be nice not to have to go shopping for slashing or crushing arrows everytime you're about to raid a pierce resistant or immune mob.

I had a hard time choosing between going jeweler or alchie.  I became a jeweler pretty much by the flip of a coin.  I'm very happy with the choice.
