![]() Hail all, I'm making a Ranger on Test and I want to know which trade skill benifits a Ranger most. Alchemy, Woodworking or Armor smith. I'm not interested so much in the income aspect ...rather the usefullness of the TS class. I have a pretty good understanding of tradskills, however I have no experiance with the Ranger. If anyone would feel the desire to expound on their opinion please do, as I am ignorant of the ways and needs of the Ranger.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you provide. /Bow

![]() I understand there are other threads that address this issue. However most tend to focus on income provided. I'm just interested in usefullness to the Ranger...
Sorry for the repeditive nature of this post.

![]() Jewelcrafting.....make your own skills and some decent jewlery if u have the rare books. That will be most beneficial and make you a nice sum of money...cus im a woodworker and a raider and seeing as which woodworking doesnt benefit me at all since i raid i wish i would have chosen JCing

![]() 27 Ranger / 44 Alchemist I am very happy with my tradeskill selection ... I love making my own Poisons as they do tend to get expensive to buy if you plan on using you Ranger alot, in the T5 area that is

![]() I think both suggestions above are good, though I tend to lean toward Alchemist( I do have one myself ), come t5 crafted poisons can become pricy, also with the changes coming making stats more important you can make your own stat boosting potions, I use one on my ranger( lvl 47 ), that boosts stam and str by 17, if you can make as many of these as you want yourself, why bother with hex dolls. Also I have noticed that the jewelry market on my server is pretty much sewn up, selling ap4 skills can be hard, at least I have found it that way myself, where as potions are consumables, with the higher importance of stats coming, there may well be a good market selling stat boosters, I cant make my own t5 yet, but i always keep an eye on the market and buy up any cheap stat boosters I find, currently I have 1 24 slot box full of the stam/str potion( put aside for dof ). There is an agi potion that will give the same boost as well

![]() i can't make a really objective statement, because i am only lvl 26 woodworker. my decision was made due to bow and arrows. then i noticed i should be higher then my adventure level to benefit in line of bows and i now always use makeshift arrows :smileyvery-happy: but after the first shock, i now like my TS class. you say you are interested not in financial aspects, only benefit to ranger, but take into account: more money, more stuff you can buy. woodworker can make consumables which people have to buy again when used up: arrows and totems. both make money, and both can come in handy. arrows first may seem useless for a ranger, because of makeshift (and even more because of combat change upgrades to makeshift). but take into account that those are only one type of damage: slashing. the rounded (crushing) and bodkin (piercing + higher chance to hit) are sought after, and may come in handy even as ranger who has free hunting arrows. and more important: it seems arrow tier will have more effect with the combat changes. and if it is also true that bows will get an up in damage, ranged auto-attack may be more viable, even for non rangers. as for totems: many different effects, most sought after are perhaps the health/power regen ones and, of course, spitit totem of the wolf (runspeed + 24%). and, as said, they will get consumed, so the people will always need new ones. consumables will always be in demand, be it totems, arrows, poisons, potions or food and drink (another possible path; i consume loads of power when fighting, so i need good drink; but totems help on top :smileywink: ) what you have to REALLY know is that most useful things you can craft for your class are only then makeable when your tradeskill level is in the same tier as your adventure level, better even same level or above. the other thing, as i mentioned above: money is the thing with which you can buy (almost) everything, even in EQ2 :smileywink: so also have an eye on the market, demand and need. woodworker may not be the suplement to ranger which one would expect, but it can be as useful as any other. perhaps jeweler may be more useful, but i would not bet on it. the opinion of a ranger/jeweler would be needed. it is not always as easy as 'they make this, the adventure class needs it, so it would be best'. there are things from every TS that you can use as ranger, depending on how you play: solo, group, raid, questing, scouting, etc. those are just my thoughts on it, but i hope it gives something to think about and helps; not only confuses you more :smileytongue:. ------------------------------------------ Message Edited by jarlaxle888 on 08-24-2005 01:59 PM |
