Low 20's Weapons

My Ranger is currently 21 and wielding 2 willowwood hunting daggers. I just read that it is a good idea to use a DW slash and a pierce to keep both skills maxed. I should have thought of this since I am an old EQ player. Anyway, I quested one and bought one, but now I am thinking I will sell one and pick up a slash item.

Last I read here was that using 2 willowwoods (1 slash 1 pierce) was the best option in the low 20's. Is this still the case or has anyone found a better combo?

I used both Willow Wood weapons until I outgrew them- one slashing and one piercing. I think at level 20 I started using a Deathbringer Stiletto and a Woven Cuirbolli Whip, stilletto piercing and whip slashing. Im not quite sure what Im going to use at 30... thinking about Feysteel Stiletto for piercing and Feysteel Hatchet for slashing.

I also started using Firwood Short Bow around level 20, i upgraded from the Willow Wood Bow. I finally finished my quest for the Stormfire last night, that thing is [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot]in haus.

Thanks for the tips. I do not know the Stormfire quest but it sounds like I will not need to for a few levels!

I'm using dual sais right now... they're pretty freaking nice. I know my piercing will suffer a bit, but in 5-7 levels, I'll replace them with a slash/pierce combo.

Where does the stormfire quest start out?

Its a series of like 11 quests from Sir Valinayle in Stormhold.

I'm using 2 Prestine forged carbonite sabers and I'm at level 22 (stats: Damage 4-13 with 1sec delay / Agi+3, str+3, health+12, power+ SMILEY

. A weaponsmith in my guild made them for me for 14silver a piece. I also use a Prestine forged carbonite short sword with simular stats to keep up my slashing skill up.

I'm using a Prestine forged carbonite Rapier and a Dragoon Dagger at Level 20. Also using a One Eyed Bow as its a bit better than Arrel's bow.

Does anyone know if the damage from specials (Back Shot for instance) is affected by the weapon's damage?

Just wondering if that might make high delay weapons more worthwhile.

I can't find a reference for this quest. Can you elaborate? I would love to start it if the bow is good.

Its a series of quests that start from Sir Valinayle in sh. You have to kill something like 20 mobs seven times and like 4 named mobs, ending with the level 26++ mob Lord Gydak by all the goblins.

up to lvl 21 I used the WW piercing/slashing combo I just hit 22 & replaced the slashing one with a Giant pick axe 2agi 7str 15hlth 17pwr & 6-19 dmg

Halfway thru 20 right now...

DW'ing with a Dagger of Disease and a Dragoon Dagger. Ranged using a Pristine Conditioned Ash Long Bow.

Used to do that gig with one slash/one pierce...but, looking down the road, it seems we're slanted more towards Piercing weps, so am not concerned about only skilling up Piercing now.
