hawk pet?

It has to be bought, and I'm pretty sure it's at level 25.

Alright, I'm a 20 ranger and I found this on one of the trainers in Elddar Grove and scribed it. I can summon the hawk but it will not attack or do anything besides fly around me. Anyone figured this thing out?

Yep, it's a fluff spell. It's made for fun. A ranger with a hawk.

Running barefoot through the woods, bow in hand, chasing a deer. Leaping over streams and splashing through puddles, hawk flying high overhead, leading you to your quarry. Amazing!

How could that not be enough for you? SMILEY

PS: Why is your name purple and your title "Scholar" ? just curious

the hawk sucks, it doesn't do anything, it's JUST fluff. It doesn't attack, it doesn't aid you in any way, it doesn't add to anything except to the ubah factor. It impresses the hell outta n00bs till they find out it dont' do jack

I don't have a hawk yet although I have read this from someone who had one: If you are stealthed and have your hawk up and go by a kos mob the hawk will get attacked (it acts as a group member). I assume it will fight back and in effect tank? This would in theory allow you to use your specials from behind before you get aggro while soloing. Also would be able to get some special arrow shots off.

If anyone has experienced this please post.

would be nice if they could make it like a tracking buff or archery range maybe, but it doesnt bother me so much, i plan to get it for the cool factor 20% away from lvl 20 right now, back to soloing

The pet should do SOMETHING, I mean give a bonus to something... attack something... I think it's just pointless to have a spell that does nothing but look good.

KK less its changed from beta there is a way to get your Hawk to attack, be warned this only ever worked for me around 30 percent of the times i tried it.

Get your fun pet to follow you towards a mob. Try and position the hawk so that he is between you and the target, pull mob with stalk and hope to golly the mob hits your hawk first! This worked for me in EL and OW at lvl 28 in beta and he actually tanked ok and is a war type ( wild swing casting )! When hawks health got low i used large hitting attack to re take aggro and HO things down.

( i also remeber going nuts that me pet wasnt working ! I didnt realise it was a fun spell!)

As much as it would be enjoyable to have a pet that could attack, I must admit it would be rather unbalancing. Soloing would be oh too easy, and rangers would become the flavor of the week and then that's all you'd see.

so u think its unbalanced lol what do u think of the summoners the solo scarecrows on 15!!!!

now thats unbalanced. i was in group to kill them and cant see it how easy the kill it.

root/dot/send pet well the can give the rangers hawk some attack damage.
if i wanne see animals i just go and look in the open fields but dont make thats hawk usless bit lame if u ask me

u pay 13 silver or something for that spell so if it can attack or be fixed dont start crying.

ps: i hope it can attack soon

You have to be kidding me. Your upset because the hawk doesnt do damage? How much damage did your hawk do in EQ1? Oh yeah that's right nada we didn't get one. The fact that I can call a hawk to my side just for eyecandy is off the hook. How cool is that and seperates us more from the other Scout classes like Rogue, bard. Unless a rogue gets a pet rat or the bard gets a mime for a pet and I didn't see it. lol

If you dont like it dont buy it. And as far as it doing damage who really cares. If they remove it from the game it won't help ya damage wise will it nah, but then you'll be like I want my little hawk back heh.

KK i have posted how to get your hawk to work, Again be warned its a fluff item. At lvl 28 he was lvl 27 and a war type. Now If we had a 27 lvl war pet with our dps at that lvl well as pointed out itd be VERY unbalanced. Try the Dodge in my previous post, it does work. Other than that leave our pet hawk alone! SMILEY

wow how can some of u say the hawk suck cause it dose nothing or dose no damage.first im glad i have or will be getting a hawk at lvl 20 1 of the reason im going ranger.now for those 2 say the hawk dose no damage now tell me what could a hawk do aginist a sword or a person wareing armor.only thing i would love for them 2 do with the hawk if it not in the game alrdy is give me a emote that will let me carry it on my arm or shoulder and another 2 release it to fly now that would reallly put the wow into having a hawk.

Ok.... You all need to realise, that although the Hawk does not attack at your command, he/she/it Is NOT completely useless.

I reached 20th 2 Days ago and have been exploring Thundering Steppes trying to get my hawk to do something... Anything except "Stay" and "Follow"

Indeed nothing worked....

UNTIL, I stealthed myself up, and pounced on a group of beetles....

Not only did My Hawk Start Tanking for me... but ALL beetles attack my hawk "Gilbanaan" at the time ^__^, and he Did a Tremendous job of Tanking.

You just need to practice, and youll get it perfect.

he tanks for me everytime... and now i can solo most creatures with ease SMILEY

I think the reason they gave us Hawks, is so that we could use our "Flanking" and "Stealth" attacks in a Solo situation... After all, Rangers are at most times Solitary Hunters.
