Dirge Shroud different from Troubador Shroud?

I played a dirge first to get a feel for it. Leveled to 15 and scrapped it in favor of the Troubador. I went to the Caves to level with my husband on both characters and found that when I cast Shroud on my dirge, none of the gnolls on the first level saw thru. On my troubador casting shroud, all gnolls see thru it. Is this intended?
