Aaryonar the Watcher

"It is then I spotted a glint on the horizon, a tower! I flew alone to investigate. It was not a dragon, giant or coldain. As I drew closer, hordes and fiends unlike any I have ever studied or seen appeared from the gate of the tower. With a mighty roar I chose to put them to death in defense of the Claws of Veeshan."

"I fought valiantly, bu they used forces I was ill prepared to combat. I tried to flee to the temple, but failed. As I lay dying upon the wastes I feared the sight of this powerful horde marching to my homeland. But they did not march"

"I watched while I died and saw my new foes march back into the gates of their tower. My vision was blurry from my own blood, but I spied a second party of those horned beings dragging what appeared to be one of my dragon kin."

"I could not tell which dragon they had claimed for I could not see clearly and my dragon kin lay uncounscious, unable to roar or even whimper. Although we do not whimper!"

"The massive horned beasts hauled my kin with massive chains. With each titanic step they cut a swathe of snow banks leading up towards the odd tower. They entered, taking my kin with them"

"Then the gate closed and the tower began to sing with great arcane energy. Slowly, or was it in a flash, I cannot recall, the odd tower vanished from my sight. Perhaps this was but a delusion as I await death?"

During My conversation with Aaryonar, I found a few things that Im hoping someone can shine some light on. -

1 - What race was these "Horned beasts" ?

2 - Which Dragon tid they haul away?

3 - What was this tower?

This all took place I believe right after the flee of the Norathians from the Temple of Veeshan

1. My guess is Nightbloods, they are rather large demon beasts with horns and they also reside in the Obelisk.

Yep yep yep. Those are deffinitly the Nightbloods, and it has now been suggested in about 3-4 sources around the game that Tarinax was indeed the dragon.

Ahhhh true i bet it is the nightbloods but they do work with the shadowmen so i was close!

Didnt Tarinax die way before EQs timeline? Aaryonar was a Guardian of Veeshan in the Temple of Veeshan during the EQ timeline, it would not be likely that the big dragon dragged into the "tower" was Tarinax as he was dead, Aaryonar had to have died after EQl's timeline. Yes there is a quest in the Obelisk of Lost Souls about rescueing Tarinax's soul but it doesn't mean the dragon dragged into the tower from Aaryonars point of view was Tarinax.

I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean. This could have easily taken place centuries ago. Dragons are, if I remember correctly, eternal living (in that they never die by old age) but I'm not certain on that. It could have taken place at any time.

Yes dragons are Eternal living. What i mean to say is that Tarinax died before EQ's timeline and Aaryonar was still alive during EQ's timeline, so it would not make much sense if Tarinax was still alive being pulled into a tower by the horned creatures while Aayonar was taking his last few breaths.

Ahh I didn't read that detail that Aaryonar was almost dead himself when he witnessed it.

The conversation states also that this event took place - just after the Norathians tried to invade Temple of Veeshan - Now going from the perspective of "lore" not ( I went into ToV and killed all named including the overseer ) evidently we didnt wipe out the temple - just invaded it - this timeline takes place during Velious expansion.

Ill try to find the rest of the passage - maybe theres something else Im missing.

Hmm could someone enlighten me on if there are any "Giant" species in Deathtoll - since my guild haven't gotten that far yet.
