I'd recommend first going down WIS 8-8. Then go down STR 4-4. After that, respec to STR 4-4-4-4-1. (Pulling all of your points out of the WIS line because the last ability in the STR line costs 8 points) Then go STR 4-4-8-8-1.The doggie ward proc is a powerful healing tool, but the problem is that the dog dies too fast. Achieving the last ability in the STR tree makes using the dog feasible; otherwise its a hassle to order it to attack every mob all the time. So until I get at least 29AAs, the only thing that I use the dog for is for soloing and giving the party group haste. The lower level STR line abilities don't do much for you in a group situation, but WIS 8-8 is actually useful at lower levels before you get enough money to max out your WIS and have all your spells mastered. After you get that many AAs, it depends upon what your playstyle is. But the best bet for a raiding Defiler would be to go down the Defiler tree to get Soul Ward ASAP. WIS 8-8 on the Shaman tree is another good option.
