Does anyone really use the Avenger line of spells?  I have a 61 Defiler and I don't think I have ever used my low level or Ghostly Avenger spell.  The reason I ask is some wizard wants to trade the level 69 master to me for a really good wiz master spell I have, but for some reason I think I might get the raw end of the deal here.

I very rarely use the spell.. I have the master, only because it was given to me by a guildie.. It does have it's uses if your heal timers are down and the tank is dangerously low on health.. but if it's getting to that point.. you're probably done for anyways.. I do use it on occation when I'm duoing..

I haven't tested it recently. but the Minion it spawns was/is bugged, and just stands there.. I'm not sure if anyone's used it in the past couple of weeks, and had our little minion actually attack the mob?!?

Anyhow.. if you have a really good Wizard master.. I would say see if you can find something else to trade for.. this really isn't one of our best spells (Not even close)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.  As soon as I saw what one I laughed and said oh the junk spell, but I figured I'd get some other opinions since I don't claim to be the smartest cookie at times.

In my normal play i usually duo with a zerker and i use this spell ALOT. Its not really a death save spell as such and if you think of it like that its junk. I use it as a ekstra 2k insta cast heal similar to our emergency wards and its a lifesaver sometimes. When we duo we usually are fighting 2-3 encounters at a time to take advantage of his massive blue dps and with multiple encounters beating on your tank and hes in offensive all the heals i can muster are in use. When he pulls off the "rambo" zerker style this spell owns and we can put up several k of dps as a duo.

Thanks nim,  hadn't tried to use it that way.  Guess I'll make hubby take his sk out so I can try it.  I love being able to try and kill him to see how something works.  hehe

Your zerker doing that isnt really efficent. Zerkers only have 2 blue danage spells and at 70(with both of them master and max str) my bigest one does 1400 max to frontal targets and the other one does 900 max full circle. Refresh is very slow, so honestly you are wasting alot of power on wards/heals and not getting that much of a benefit. The only thing that would actually be decent for doing that is open wounds or the agility AA line that does something similar to open wounds. But even then thats a huge waste of power and open wounds refesh is 3 minutes.

IMO they can xp how they want and if that means fighting multiple encounters at once then so be it. When I was leveling up, my group would always pull more than one enounter, many times we wouldn't even have a tank, and it was up to me to keep everybody alive. I use the Avenger spell all the time. It really is a life-saver and from what I've noticed, the pet is working now...at least somewhat anyway. I've seen it attack although it's never "grabbed the attention of the mob" - whatever that really means anyway.

I am up to 54 Defiler just now and I think I have only ever cast the Avenger spell 4 times so far.  Of those 4 times it has only actually fired off once (ie the MT would have died and the Avenger popped) and it worked like a dream.  Even though I have only ever had the Adept 1 version of the spell the Avenger took the aggro, healed the MT and warded him, which gave me just enough time to rescue the situation.  I think it is a useful spell to have in the armoury, but IMO it is not worth anything like as much as a high level Wizzy spell.  Stick to the Adept 1 version unless you have a lot of cash or a Moonstone kicking around doing nothing.

As an aside, the MT had never seen that spell in action before and was gobsmacked when the Avenger popped in front of him and took the aggro.  He was even more gobsmacked when he saw it had his tag on it SMILEY  It ended up with another MT converted to the Dark Side and being fully appreciative of the power of the Defiler.
