I am a 50 Templar and not only do i lack in AA points (only have 19) but i have spent them on the INT line. Most of the forums that i have read have recommened nothing about taking the INT line. Was this a mistake?? Should i start working on another line? and when should i start putting my points toward the cleric tree?

There's nothing wrong with the int line - nobody could complain about having lower casting times.

OOC.

Personally, of the KOS AP skills lines, in the current post-EOF world of Norrath, I would say that the INT line was probably our strongest line of all, especially for casual playstyle players. The two key skills in that line are:

- Damage Crits for spells. These are not important if you are intending to be a raiding player, but for DPS-oriented Templars, are something you will not want to be without. If you crit, it adds 30% to the damage of a damage spell. [Side Note: For some classes, it has more of an effect than this, because the minimum that a spell-crit cast can do is the maximum damage of the spell without a crit + 1, but for Templar, the max damage of any of our damage spells is always less than the minimum damage + 30%, so this does not actually make a difference to any Templar damage spells.]

- Spell casting time reduction (Facile Grace). With 8 ranks in this, you gain a 12.5% reduction from the base casting times of all of your spells. This means that a spell that takes 2.0 seconds to cast before, will then take 1.75 seconds to cast. For damage spells, this equates to a 100/87.5 = 14.3% increase in DPS, but since it also affects debuffs and heals and every other spell, it is much better than just that. Personally, I consider this actually more important than spell damage crits.

This is why Templar Felishanna has 4-4-8-8 on the INT line.

Felishanna.

You didn't make a mistake. For casual players this line does have crit chance plus and enhanced casting speed. For the raiding cleric, you want the casting speed and probably/possibly the five minute recast 50% haste thingie. You've done alright for yourself and you'll get more AA's as you go, do some quests if you really want to get more. If, for some reason you feel you cannot have your AA's in this line, for about 1s you can go into South Qeynos at the mage tower, go to the achievement council and get them respec'ed into where you want them. However, every time you use this you the price will increase eventually to about 13p.

I recommend consulting your raid, higher templars you trust, the forums (though for example Kendricke and I have vastly different ideas on how a templar should spec) and your raid friends or group friends on where you should invest your AA's. In short, you'll find none of the lines is too bad, at one point I had fun with the wisdom line and being an undead slaying champion, but you'll find where you should end up. As for going into the templar side, you'll get there eventually. I never had to deal with the subclass on either of my characters, just which line I wanted first. I recommend shooting for the short-term improvements first as you work to long-term maximized potential.

/agree the Int line is necessary, so you are in good shape.

There is no one size fits all solution to the AA's.  What Liviee  posted is OK, but I love Turn Undead too, and I run into enough undead content in KoS and EoF to have made it a worthwhile investment.
