Solo Casting Templar - with a specific question ...

I am a level 70 Templar who uses spell damage when solo - have a Paladin-70 for when I am in the mood to melee SMILEY

)

- have AAs in INT and STA lines

- high WIS & INT stats)

Since I autoattack happens, and STR increases the autoattack damage, should I trade some WIS and/or STA

for a little more strenght - or would that not be worth the trade?

solo weapons - I use either a "blackscale maul" or a "high damage" 2H staff

For Reference, my solo geared stats are: STR=199, AGI=20, STA=302, INT=353, WIS=468

Mitigation=3,476 Avoid=7.7% (2H weapon)

As you aren't at the WIS cap, I'd be hesitant to trade any for anything else.But you are talking of trading STA too. If you don't go up against mobs that can 1 shot you STA is not so important to a non-raiding priest, so by all means trade it away (if you can anyway - most heavy armour tends to focus on tanking stats)For Int or Str? Don't know to be honest -the best way to test is to take a potion that ups your stat of interest (T7 common is "Exceptional" and should be pretty cheap on the broker), and run a few parses.My char is currently above the WIS cap solo, so I'm trying to up STR at the expense of INT, as Melee damage is "free" - no casting time once you are positioned, and no power cost. I pretty much ignore Sta/Agi - what I get, I get.When the WIS cap gets put out of reach, I"ll probably go back to scrounging every last scrap of WIS.These days though I do not solo as a templar. Its much too annnoying compared to my other chars.

Raise that mitigation... seriously, if you are wearing heavy armour your avoidance is going to be comprimised seriously so you are going to get hit.... a lot. You don' need wisdom to solo... or even intelligance... you just need enough of your stats to 'get by' long enough for you to kill the mob. As a templar you have to (like my fury) tank everything you solo, so if you are working on a separte set of gear for soloing just think: TANKComprimise on everything except your ability to avoid and absorb damage... if you run two sets of armour make sure the soloing set comes mainly from the tank spectrum. Dark chiten rings give + defence and +mitigation... grab a couple of those... voodoo doll of valour +3 defence, bulwark of the brave... only round shield priest can use protection 666 gives me 8.8% avoidance (yes, you heard correctly equiping that shield only will double your avoidance).Do everything as if you were a tank because when you solo you are a tank.... as it stands my fury in soloing gear comes in at 3k mit (39% mit), and 38% avoid.... that makes me one tough cookie to crack and I don;t need to spam heals as much to keep myself alive... you need to watch trama attacks and cure them as soon as they pop up they'll lower your mitigation/avboidance and you could suddenly find yourself the recipient of 700 damage a hit coming in thick and fast.If you can't burn the mobs down fast enough (i.e. for every herioc mob) you outlast them... I'm afriad this means autoattack reactives and debuffing... for solo mobs thankfully you burn them down quickly and for that you'll woirk well with more int and wis but for anything tougher you need to work on your tanking stats.I know this sounds weird, but if you have to stand toe to toe with mobs you need to make it a priority not to take as much damage so you don't need to use your heals as much.
