I'm worried that on my lvl 33 necromancer I'll *never* be able to raise the defense skill!  As the levels progress, mobs hit harder and harder relative to the defensive abilities.  I suspect that I should have been taking the time all along to try to maximize defense. At level 33, my defense is now 119/166.  Level 23 mobs are the lowest green cons. Would it still be best to take (a lot) of time and go to Thundering Steppes just to let lvl 23 mobs beat on me to raise defense?  Does our defense skill even matter enough to do that?

Defense skill determines your avoidance, not your mitigation. IIRC you can fight Grey-con mobs to increase your defense skill. But perhaps the best way to increase your defense skill is a quick run through Harclave.Honestly, I've never really worried too much if my Defense skill lags.

Or just run Harclave. That'll get your defense skill up quick, and fairly safely too.

Just wait a few levels and go to Feerott then run to CT a few times, that'll raise it up nice and quick :smileyvery-happy:

Great, that will make the process a lot easier.  I'll just attack a grey crab at the TS dock and go eat dinner or something!
