Does anyone know if the Igneous Magi procs the Blazing Presence buff when casting spells?  The few times I have grouped and used this pet, the buff still seems to be "up" in the maintained spell bar after combat has finished.  I was unsure if this was because combat didn't last long enough for it to proc all 5 times or if it's spells didn't cause the proc to occur.  Thanks for the help:smileyhappy:

think on the spell descriptions it says only proc with melee dmg....so if the air pet go in and melee the mob..then yes..the proc will work

  • Engulfs the conjurer's summoned minion in a blazing aura for a limited duration, dealing heat damage every time the minion attacks or is attacked in melee. Once this spell has triggered five times, it will expire

This was taken directly from SOE's spell list, which I would agree that the wording would imply that melee only attacks trigger this proc.

This link states that (This is a picture of the spell's "Examine Window")

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=29&message.id=7448

When target is damaged with a melee weapon this spell will cast Blazing Presence on target's attacker

  • Inflicts 382 - 637 damage on target(?)

On Successful attack this spell will cast Blazing Presence on target of attack.

  • Inflicts 382 - 637 damage on target(?)

According to this wording I would assume that any attack would proc (spell or melee), but only melee attacks against pet would proc.

I'm at work, so I can't actually check to see if the Picture's description is correct, just a screenshot from another forum post.

Fire pet goes into melee range, as it is part of the normal NPC A.I. behavior. But he will melee only if he is stifled, or out of power. Was patched a month or 2 ago. (can't remember what patch)

As for the actual question of this thread... I so rarely use the fire pet that I never actually noticed. I seem to remember that yes, it does proc on spells (seeing 2 numbers go out of the mob's head), but Firepet casts few nukes in a 30sec window. The few he does cast are powerful thou.

attack = melee, NOT spells. Blazing Presence does NOTHING to the fire pet.

i've seen it proc over and over on my fire pet... my pet would hit for like 900 then 450 would appear right with that every time while BP was up.  i definetly noticed a difference killing the epics in clefts with fire pet while BP was on.

I'm pretty sure it does.  I'll check my logs when I get home, but when I was messing around in raids yesterday, I'm pretty sure the fire pet was procing BP. Edit:  Just checked my logs, it does work.  I see some double hits by my igneous magi, 'Igneous Flames', 'Flameshock',  'Sphere of Flame', etc followed by 'Blaze'. Unless Blaze is a different proc, it does work with the Fire Pet.

Personally I rarely see Blazing Presence fire off with Igneous Magi. I see Conjuror's Signet fire off all the time, but rarely Blazing Presence.

The fire pet does melee once in a while, that is when BP will proc.  Since his cast times are so long, you will rarely see him melee and hence, rarely see him proc BP.

If your pet is DAMAGED, or if he runs out of power and is forced to melee, only then does Blazing Presence proc. In most situations, that will NOT happen.

Blazeing Presence will indeed proc each time the fire pet nukes. It will also proc on each of the mobs in AoE should it cast Wave of Flames.

It DOES proc off fire pet's spells! SMILEY Nt checked today though with LU16.

It's best when ti fires off it's AOEs, then it can fire EVERY proc chance off in one go.

However, oddly, ti does trigger BP less than it should, but have also noted that with any other pet. Somehting seesm to prevent it triggering. The pet IS hitting, I see the numbers, pet isn't being hit (it's in group, so it cna't act as a damage shield)..but BP, with fire, air or earth is simply not going off at times, weird.

I take it back SMILEY   I am always one to admit when I am wrong, and it does indeed proc from spells.

On proc buffs, if they state "on a successful attack" it will work on spells and melee. If it says "on a successful melee attack" it's only melee, and a "a successful hostile spell" it's only spells SMILEY

I have the master 1 fire pet , I use it most of the time and have since the combat change. He opens with a 800-900 pt nuke. Then follows with a ~550 pt nuke.. With BP I also see the ~350 dmg as well as a separate dmg counter on each nuke.  He is nowhere near the mob when he opens up, he is not in melee range, he is not getting hit.

He does not attack as often or as fast as the Air pet so the Air pet burns thru the procs faster.. But it kills as fast if not faster esp against groups. The Fire pet has 4-6 seconds between nukes on avg.

BP procs thru a fire pets nukes.

end of story.

My question is why cant weapon procs work thru caster classes spells?

Unless stifled or out-of-power, the Fire pet will never melee. He will get into melee range, as it is part of the standard NPC behavior AI. But he will not lose time swigning a weapon if he can start the next spell right away.

EDIT: Oups! I totally mis-read your question! Sorry! This response doesn't fit at all SMILEY

I wish they would change our spell durration like they did with the brawler Thundering Fists.  It was just like BP, 30 secs or 5 hits.  They recently took away the 30 sec part and made it so that it will stay until the 5 hits are done.  I would love to see this used for BP so the fire pet would be able to proc it all the time and not just when there is a multi-mob encounter.
