Every pet spell now is worth the upgrade. Before Desert of Flames, only the tank pet was.

![]() It took me well into the lvl 30's (and after combat changes) before upgrading the aery and igneous pets upto adept 3. I really dont know how I lasted so long without them as they add so many extra dimesions to the game. In a group environment with a good tank the Igneous line are powerhouses (to quote Xalmat), however, they are paper weak and hence you'll need the tank to keep aggro otherwise the pet will be toast in no time at all but they dish out the DPS like you wouldnt believe. I always recommend upgrading your tank pets to Adept 3 before your non-tank pets, unless you don't do any soloing whatsoever.

just to come back on the topic: but how you all manage to take the rares, mine mine and mine or just buy at the broker (at rates unspeakable, at least in Lucan D'lere...)? And also: do you make your own spell or do you ask to guildies sages to make 'em? Thanks, Cam

All of the above works. If you are unlucky at mining, or if you find a good deal on a rare, buy from broker. If you are unwilling to level a Sage at the same speed as your adventurer, hire a Guild or a LFW Sage.

First i send him in then summon pets use shatter ground then the dot and lightning blast move followed by words of force then seism and that usually kills them Using this combo my pet only gets hit once at the beggining of the fight.

![]() The fire pets are still garbage. They cast nukes way too slow to be useful and they die in a couple hits to any random exp mob.

![]() You're so wrong here. It's a situational pet , I don't bring ole Firey Bob out very often , but on melee or slash resistant mobs in a group setting he rules. Just today his group AE killed off 8 linked mobs in Poets Palace just as they were about to kill the remaining tank and healer. |

I love the fire pet. Soloing down arrow linked mobs nothing is faster than fire pet plus your aes. Also in harclaves with you as a tank, the firepet kicks some serious gnoll/mushroom behind, a testament to its effectiveness for groups mobs.

Words of Force is a quested spell you acquire from doing quests in The Splitpaw Saga.DoT = Damage over Time. Any spell that does initial damage followed by subsequent damage before expiring is a DoT. Examples include Static Pulse, Bludgeoning Earth, Shattered Ground, and Flaming Agony.

![]() ...guess it's about time I get Words of Force...I keep meaning to go to Splitpaw but thus far haven't heh....but I digress... For rares, I usually luck out and get a few harvesting since I do a lot of it. I also check the brokers at night too, once in awhile you can find a steal of a deal. If you were to have a sage make it from scratch, or even worse buy the completed spell from the broker you're probably looking at a pretty hefty markup. Especially pet spells since sages know those (and heal spells) are quite coveted. At the other end of the spectrum, if you can provide the rare ink, paper and quill to a sage he'll probably make it for next to nothing. For most people the most feasible way to do it is somewhere in between - aquire the rare and give it to a sage to make the spell. Then you're probably looking at only 1-10g for his services.
