Hi,
I betrayed a level 16 illusionist to become a coercer and am having some trouble.   FYI - my charm spell is an adept 3 and my fascinate spell is a master 2.    I can mez and charm a level 16 mob with no problem, where I run into trouble is when the mez breaks and BOTH mobs (mine and the one we were attacking) jump me.   Regaining control of the situation is beyond me for some reason and I sure hope I am screwing up here - lol!     The FAQ board said to keep the target mob rooted,  so when the charm breaks you can mez and re-charm again ( and I try to do that and one time it actually worked).    Still both (a lot more often than I like!!) jump me at the same time and I am done for.
    Any sugguestions?
Thank you,
Brimne

I also have a young coercer, i think as a class we have alot of power especially at higher levels, we pay for it in that we were designed to die more than wizards.

This is a problem early on, and the coercer starts out not the most powerful, but by the 30's you'll start to see the class really shine.

I am guessing you are sending your pet in to attack and not backing it off.  All of the melee attacks will break Root a lot faster then sending your pet in to cast a spell then backing it off.  The second method is how you ensure when (not if) charm breaks you only have to worry about the uncharmed creature instead of everything you where fighting.  Targetting through your pet helps a lot in this situation as well.

First a tip, you have 3 seconds... that's more then enough time to get things under control as long as you aren't on top of the mob you are fighting. Here's the trick there's like 40 ways to handel this;Option 1:Root Casting time = 1 second.EE Stun Casting time = 1.5 secondsTime left for error or responce = 0.5 seconds. This is one way of getting things under control. This isn't the most efficent however, just the fastest. DPS THROUGH YOUR PET! Soon as you see that evil yellow screen, cast root on your pet, this buys you a lot of time to get him under wraps. Soon as the root lands (or even during it's casting) get the mod targeted and cast EE stun. As long as you aren't up his butt it will land and then you have enough time to mezz / re-root blah blah blah.Option 2:Keep the mob you are trying to kill rooted. Soon as the pet breaks, EE stun or Mezz your now broken pet, recharm, continue killing.Option 3: Keep EE stun handy for the mob you are killing. quickest casting and 6 sec of playtime to get things under control.Option 4: When things go to [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn], AE fear! It's fun and normally causes a bigger mess, but you can't complain about the instant casting. The list goes on and on. You really just have to find something that works for you. I find that DPSing through my pet works great in groups, solo, ALWAYS have what you are trying to kill targeted, because that doesn't get the 3 sec stun when charm breaks. Again, in groups I NEVER get hit when my charm breaks, because I alreayd have it on target and mezz is 1 second less casting than the stun when mezz breaks. AKA easy recharm, happy group. Blah blah blah. Then again, I believe stuns and roots are the key to solo-ing, not pets. *shrug* But what do I know . =p

as said so often before, coercer is most flexible/powerful class in game. the cost of this power is the frailty of the young coercer and  the work it takes to get into the mid levels when we finally start to see that power.10-25ish is the toughest time of all and best spent in a pick up group levelling. three nights in pick-up groups in FG, Curshbone or SH and you'll be 25.while you are learning some good skills by trying to solo that young, you might get burned out/turned off in the process.
