Hi all, I have recently betrayed my T6 wizard to a warlock because I just never played that char.  I'm enjoying the warlock a lot - helps to have a high level paladin friend you group with SMILEY  We were pulling tons of giants recently in POF and I have to say that a warlock is pretty impressive with amends and 4-7 encounters at once.  In experimenting with different combinations of things, learning the class, it became apparently that Netherous Realm and broodlings were both two great spells for the class.  The procs don't seem like much damage, but when you multiply them by 5 or 10...

Those little broodlings are just way cool.   I was soon looking for ways to spawn them right away, since they triggered NR and did decent AOE themselves across all the mobs.  However, although the spell says "30% chance to spawn", the actual % seemed a lot lower, more like 15%.  They're not usable every fight, but I'd like to hear from the experts on the best ways to spawn them, if you wanted to, early on.  I was depressed at how often they would fail to spawn at all.

i have to say, i find the spawn rate seems much higher, those lil critters seem to show up almost every fight. I suppose its just if you are looking out for them every time, your probably noticing a lot more when they dont show up. I generally open with the spell Dark Infestion to give it the longest possible time to tick over and thus have more chance of spawning the broodlings. I have read of broodlings directly going to other targets that are not intentional so be wary of this happening. its never happened to me though.go forth and be broody my broodlings of broodiness!

In xp groups I usually cast DI on the mob I'm expecting to live the longest in case it takes a couple casts to spawn them.  The very next cast is usually Aura of Nihility (Aura of emptiness for you) that's a quick cast that will give you 2 extra chances from someone elses spells to proc your broodlings.  Right after that I cast Chaostorm (Boundless fury lvl 56) which is pretty quick cast AE dot, then start up the ladder with larger and larger hitters and hopefully they spawn.More chances to spawn = spawn more often!  :smileywink:

So many wizards betraying to warlock... Casting order Dark Infestation Tumultuous Maelstrom Aura of Nihility Scourge of Shadows War Pyre etc Get your fast casts out there if you are in a hurry to proc them.  Or if you're in raid they'll instantly spawn because of 800 spells being cast on the target at any time.

Yes for me the DoT type spells along with the aura line definetly seem to be the best bet to spawn them.

I find that DI followed by Netherlord, Scourge, War Pyre, and Aura is a great way to proc them.  If I'm in a rush I might skip the DoT's and do DI, Thwart, Soul Blister.  It's a 35% chance to proc PER CAST -- that's actually a very high chance to spawn per encounter, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting them up quick.

honestly if you want to max your dps, trying to spawn your pets on regular mobs is really just a waste... unless your group is low on dps..... usually in a full group the mobs die soo fast its not worth casting...Now on the other hand, if your duoin with a pally, or have a trio group going usually all your quick casting spells can set it off... its really up in the air, but i would suggest dont go outta your normal routine of spell sequence to try to get them to spawn, if they do then hey BONUS if not the mob will be dead in a few seconds anyways....Now druing a raid thats the first spell i usually cast on the epic mob in the encounter, and then cycle through my normal routine of spells, and they usually trigger....

Unless you pull a whole room at a time, then it's all about getting those broodlings to spawn!  :smileytongue:

Well, we were doing like 4-6 encounters at once so any additional AOE damage was a huge boost.  On a normal single encounter it would not be something I'd try to spawn purposefully.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will try it out.
