![]() Ok so someone please tell me there is a way to minimize the graphics or something on this spell. I have a solid system with 2gig ram and when I cast this spell on Very High Performance I get lagged out so bad I'm basically dead.

![]() Well bro, as far as I know you can't minimize the graphics on this one spell. If you wanna get crazy, you could set your max spell results per catster to zero and then you will never see it. You also may want to check your net connection. If you got a high rate system that's usually the show-stopper. You can prob fish this prob out if you have ever noticed any lag at the very last instant of a spell before it hits a mob for the 1st time while soloing. Got a 6600GT and my graphis are way way up and I have np. GL though :smileywink:

Everquest II uses quite little bandwidth. It should work fine even on dialup. If you have broadband then your connection is more than enough. Also, the lag caused by our AE root is not related to the amount of memory you have, in any way. It's most likely something related to your video card. What card are you using ?Iranicus,

FYI I use a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 more than 2 years old and I don't have any slowdown when casting this spell at High Quality (or equivalent tweaked spell and particle settings.) I wonder that this is a video card issue in certain models ...

![]() Just to clarify when I refered to connection i meant latency. If you connection has high ping time, you are going to get lag. If you have dirty lines, are on a wireless network ect, expect lag even if your connection is a T1.

Neither latency nor bandwidth have anything to do with the original poster's problem. He has graphics lag when casting that spell. I.e. his FPS drop to single digit values. As far as I know there are some cards that can't deal with this. Another spell that comes to mind is a damage shield of sorts (wardens ?) with thorns growing out from you, or something along those lines. When you have a high latency connection then you will have reaction lag. I.e. you will cast a spell and the spell will go off after couple of seconds. That's different.

While the spell is casting, look away, then look back a half second or so after you've finished casting. Low-tech 4tw. Message Edited by XBrit on 11-15-2005 10:00 AM |

I do the look away method, but it sucks that this spell causes so much problems, when the others don't. Looks to me like SOE should consider redoing the spell so it doesn't affect so many people.

I have actually frozen an exp group, and made a few friends go LD while casting this spell without warning. I say something in teamspeak if I'm going to use it now so people can look away. I just upgraded my graphics card to an x800pro and don't seem to have a problem with the animation anymore.

I just think it is sad that we have to pay several hundred dollars to upgrade a video card, so that we can play a $50 game.

![]() Yeah, I hated it when Moorgard came to my house, held a gun to my head, and made me buy a brand new video card. That guy is an arsehole sometimes ![]()

![]() Other members of the group don't see the Bony grasp animation ... So if you just look away it should be enough. I always do it that way anyway and my group mates never disconnect or go ld because of it.

Wha.. ? Of course they see the animation if their graphic settings are set accordingly.

on a recent rebuild.... i installed the latest ATI drivers (x800Pro) and i noticed that i was suffering this very problem, the BG animation casued a total slowdown... i reverted back to cat 5.6 (i think) and the problem was totaly resolved. its a nasty (resorce wise) animation at best, but the wrong drivers can really really make it hurt.

Pre-revamp you could easily lag out the unsuspecting by training with a lvl 48 in group to icespire summit (you aggro ALL those valkyries) and then just whackin' BG on at the door. Oh man that sh*t was hilarious.. Miss the Casting Point AOE style of the spell. Always made me 2nd guess my pulls.
