Ok i realize there is probably a post for this, but i have never heard any devs verify this.  Is Bony Grasp supposed to be a encounter, or AoE root?  In the spell Description it says encounter, and the spell has a Green background.  However at the bottom where it lists spell effects it says AoE.  So which is it.  I would assume, it's supposed to be similar to the wizards 36sec root, which is encounter.  If it's not thats cool...but it would be nice to have final verification on this.

I thought he was asking for a dev to confirm that it's meant to be one thing or another. The spell description and icon indicate it should be encounter specific but the actual spell is not.

Yep, i wasn't asking for a bunch of players to tell me it's AoE.....i have the spell.....i know it's AoE.  I would like a Dev to confirm that it's just a spell description, and icon colour error.

Okay - my bad. I guess the best way to answer this is to /bug it.  Sadly its seems to be some SOE policy not to reply to threads addressed to "devs"

Probably because if people found that devs would respond to questions on the boards they'd post a lot more of them and the devs would never get any work done. Much safer for Sony to seal their cubicles. I think the 360 degree screenshot thing is a result of cubicle madness SMILEY.

The 306-degree screenshot is the direct result of a programmer trying to make a rear-view camera on his machine to spot the boss coming, and realizing that he created something cool.  :smileytongue:
 
(No, I have no clue, but the good stuff is usually discovered this way.)

Please don't bug Bony Grasp.  Lets just all agree to leave it well enough alone.  It's nice how it is, and I would hate to see it "changed" in the new ability revamp.

Yeah hood point... I was thinking they'd just update the description (as if they'd bother) But I guess it wouldnt be uknown for them to screw it all up.

Yea, absolute crap if you ask me, I for one, if this goes live, will be forced over the edge into finally quitting this game & going to a different game that is more upfront with their customers. Yes, I am angry & who knows? I may quit over this, & it is likely, & no, SOE doesn't really care, but oh well, nothing I say or do will change the inevitable, we are being forced to quit soloing the way we wish...

Well, you should be fair to the devs and look at it from their point of view. An unbreakable long root IS overpowered... soloing ^^ yellow mobs for exp without much danger & all, not to mention some of the really skilled players being able to kill epic mobs. They've made a mistake putting the spell into the game and their choices now are to either [Removed for Content] off warlock/wizard customers by fixing it, or [Removed for Content] off all other classes by not fixing it. They have to take the choice that offends fewer people.I agree that it sucks to lose such a great spell, and that a lot of people would prefer not to have had it at all than to suddenly have it taken away, after many built their characters relying on it. But the devs are human, you can't expect them to get everything right the first time.I am, btw, playing a warlock myself. And I hate this just as much as anyone here does, but I can see why they have to do it.

Err... do a realitity check here. War/wiz are not the only classes capable of doing heroics. They are not the only ones capable of doing nameds. They are not the only one able to do epics (only in _extreme_ cases was this possible tho, and with several good regen items). Pallys, guardians zerkers kill nameds far easier than I do. They might use 5 minutes doing it, but they end the fight with 80% health, and theres basicly no real risk involved. One resist for a wizzie/warlock however is all it takes to go *splat!*. The only wall between us and death is a thin root (with 2/3 of the time is breakable). For the tank that wall is a couple of thousand hitpoints thick... Heck, I even watched a 47 troubadour solo a +++ epic mob (for the second time) a couple of days ago. He used like 15 mins for the fight hehe... Epic equipment you say? No. No fabeled items. most armor peices was crafted non-rare medum armor, and he had absolutely _no_ regen items. Neither mana nor health. Necromancers and conjurers also solo heroics with relative ease. The most efficient strategies ive seen used is a form of kiting. This too, like how wizards and warlocks have been fighting up to now requires skill to use against any significantly tough mobs. I've also seen several of the healing classes do heroics without any trouble. Wardens and Templars for example. They take an ungodly amount of time to do it due to realyl low DPS, but the combination of good armor and exellent healing abilities make it very possible. Especially when you can be your own mana-generator with HoT's and manastone (when you dont have to worry about aggro, being solo anyway). No, im not calling for nerfs of all these classes. Im just pointing out that wizzies and warlocks havent been cruising easy-street just because we had that root that made us able to do some nice feats if you had the skill to pull it off. Yet, we seem to get the spotlight for some strage reason. Sure. Nerf my root. Please make me able to do only 1 single thing: Stand in a group and hit my nukes. Yes, that will be oh so much fun I'm sure. Please remove all spells except from nukes from wizzies and warlocks. Please remove all spells except buffs and heals fro mthe healers, pelase remove all spells except breeze from the chanters. I'm sure the classes will fit "the vision" then. Too bad there wont be anyone left playing it.... -Stigma

100% agree Stigma! Thats exactly the point - reducing us to nothing but dmg, nerfing our only tool to solo groups for xp is no class balancing, it stupid, plain and simple. I really dont see why this could do any good to the other classes. If this worst case comes true a lot of people stop playin their DDs just because its nothing left worth playing. Maybe than, when its nearly impossible to get DDs for a raid or just for xp, some of the guys who cried for the nerf will recognize what they created...

How many warlocks can kill 5 heroic mobs in 36 seconds?  Not me, the most I can get is two or three....all bony grasp does is delay the inevitable skull bashing when the other 2-3 mobs finally make their way over here.
