Now that the Master Strike has been revamped down to 1 button and base of L&L I thought about the idea of putting it on my Hot Bar.  But 2500 damage wtih a long recast on only certain mobs seems a bit weak I mean my BOL does up to 4k and it works on anything and has a 9 seconds recast.  This is the Master Strike and it is less powerfull then our staple spell....  Yea its in added spell now and again but I realy think it is underpowered.... I think it should atleast be as powerfull as ice nova then it would be worth getting L&Ls and keeping it on hte hot bar for when it comes in handy.  Does anyone else feel this way?

yeah they're pretty gimpy i agree

for comparison:

BOL 2.12 sec cast: 2283 to 4184dmg /  3323.5 average / 1234 cast dps

Irradiate 1.45 sec cast: 582 to 1070 + (226 to 409)x3 /  1778.5 average / 912 cast dps

Master Strike 1.75 sec cast: 2189 to 2677 /  2433 average / 1081 cast dps

(thats at 705 int with wis/agi lines and 3 in irradiate and 5 in BOL)

so there not very master strike'ish really.. more like a bread and butter nuke.. still they're worth casting if nothing better is up i spose..

on the plus side however they are very power efficient.. should have checked the pwr cost b4 i logged.. but its a lot better than most..

Basically they are good for chanters since they dont do so much dmg in the first place and they are good for necros and conj's since their pet is doing dps while they are casting it so while it might do nothing much for a sorcerer it will probably raise a summoners dps for that 2.5 secs considerably (33% or so?). Im not sure how it would compare to the scouts sinister strike and if theirs is worth casting at all at 70.. but yeah .. if you dont hotbar it you wont miss out on much as a wiz.. But if they were to change it they'd probably have to make it a class specific master strike I think .. and I doubt they could be bothered.. personally I dont really care ..this class has _far_ to many problems to worry about (resists/pwr consumption/ aggro) to care about whether or not the master strikes are worth using or not..

I completely agree with HippyKnight, having done the math myself.

HippyKnight, did you remember to factor in Recovery Time when computing Cast DPS?  Now eat your vegetables.  That's a good boy lol.

Yah, they're fairly [Removed for Content] if you are a Sorceror. But for those of us who aren't, they're better than every other spell.

That makes me cry inside.

Can someone say "s h a f t e d   a g a i n"?

They do a nice fix like putting all the Master Strikes on one button (which I'm not complaining about....great change)...and it looks like such a tasty treat.  But when you do the math...it's just...brussel sprouts.

Yeah, there really should be some bump in damage for DPS classes for these to make them worthwhile.
