Total wiz newbie suggestions

Ok, so after getting my guardian to 50 and realizing that well 50 is kinda boring, I decided to start an alt and chose going wizard. However, having no background in this other then knowing that uber things like Ice Comet are cool and being a necro in EQ1 I thought I would come to the masters for some suggestions.

Are there any spells in particular that I should get adepts in, any that are complete trash? Figuring INT is important like all casters. Any particular stat other then that I want. Any items I 'have to have' other then a manastone at some point?

Anyway some simply suggestions would rock. Oh and BTW, you sould all feel better, now its MY turn to try to steal the aggro :-p

I'm glad you were a necro in eq1, because you'll fill the mana pump role quite nicely at higher lvls.

particular spells of usefulness, ice spike, freeze, blazing intimidations, ball of fire, ball of flames, immolation, ring of cold, frozen manticles, tether, truss,

i'd take the lvl 30 training option west fiends ice spear simply because it will last you all of your 30's while ball of fire dies off at 30.

Simple rule of thumb. Upgrade all your nukes and debuffs to at least adept1. Ice Spike is the first decent nuke you get in your teens and is one you should try and upgrade to adept3, since it is still something I use at level 50. Icy Coil, Ball of Flames, Immolation, Ice Flame, Ice Comet, and Piercing Icicles are must have adept 3s. Since you have a level 50 main I will assume you can afford to twink out your wizzy :smileytongue:, so I would also recommend getting Ball of Fire, the level 23 nuke at adept3. It will eventually be surpassed by the level 30 training Westfend's Ice Spear in you mid 30s, but until then it will be fairly useful.

Also be sure to upgrade your mana feeding/canni/harvest spells to adept1 at least, because come the endgame you will be needing them. I would also recommend taking Naedra's as your lvl 20 training as it acts like a free manastone, and you won't HAVE to do that heritage quest after all :smileyvery-happy:

OK dont know if this belongs in this or not and I could not figure out how to start a new thread so I will ask her. I have a chance to make an adept 3 spell and want o make it a root one for when I solo. My wizard is lvl 30 and after looking at the spell list it looks like out only root spell is frozen manacles the rest seem to be interupt. I only have the ink to make a tier 3 spell.

So my question is ...should I make the frozen manacles adept3 or is it even worth it. Thx in advance for your feed back

If you want to make a T3 adept III, i suggest breath of the tyrant. It's a medium dmg, quick recast standard nuke. Leave adept III roots for the chanters.

If you have aT3 ink I would suggest Icy coil as the adept3 of choice. You will still be using it at level 50. Frozen Manacles is a T2 spell, so you will need the T2 ink to upgrade it. I honestly don't think upgrading the root will make much difference to it's effectiveness and would suggest upgrading your nukes and debuffs for faster killing instead.

before upgrading roots to adept 3, get a horse ! it's expensive, but you will use it much more.
