I hit 31 the other day and received Distorted Visions (App 1). I turned it on and noticed that I was running just as fast as normal, except that I was invisible. I checked the spell description and it mentioned nothing about a slowdown, said that it had an invisibility level of 30, and the defensive item was like 'spell avoidance increase of 1' (which seems pointless). I have a Master 1 of Distorted Visions in the bank, and when I examined it, it showed a level 35 invis, a SLOW OF 20, and still the same pointless spell avoidance of 1. So as it stands right now, I'm not scribing my Master version of this spell, because its all but worse than the Apprentice 1! Yes the invis is a tad higher, but I don't really want to sacrifice 20 speed for a few more levels of invis. Here's my question: For those of you who have this spell, what does it do at varying quality levels? Does it reduce speed at all other levels? Does it reduce speed at Apprentice 1 for any of you? Does the defense effect on cancellation ever change? If all other versions have a slow, does the percentage of slow change depending on quality? (app IV, adept 1/III, etc)

Slow so what? Its not that big a deal. Just be glad you actualy got a master. Most upgreads to invis spells dont do much, they just get better as you lvl. Maby with that you could go places most other people your lvl couldnt, like for instance getting past the stupids at the back door to RoV for the quest. Althought i dont remember what lvl that was at??? Anyway, the point is, you might be able to compleate some quests ahead of time with it. Now stop whining:smileytongue:

![]() I'm not sure why App I doesn't have a speed reduction (I thought it was supposed to be 35%) while the adepts and master does. I'm a grouping type wizard, so I don't have to rely much on invisibility. IMHO, I'd sell the master and stick with the adept version. On another note but similarly related, as you gain more levels, you'll start to notice there's not a huge difference between app I and adept I. Masters are definately not worth the price most ppl ask for on the broker. I seen a ball of flames master (lvl 37 spell) for sale at 1.5 plat. If I remember correctly, the additional damge was 10% over adept I and 20% over app I. The biggest heartache for me is in the dot spells. I've noticed a slightly better improvement in the initial hit, but the actual dot may add a point or few per tick. My advice is to pay strict attention to the cost of the spell and what the actual damage increase actually is. Use the app I stats as a base and determine what gains you get by upgrading. You'll find that app IV's are more than sufficient provided the cost is right. |

"On another note but similarly related, as you gain more levels, you'll start to notice there's not a huge difference between app I and adept I" Are you talking about upgrading spells that are already mastered? Because i sure as heck hope your not saying that the overall diferance between adept and app spells gets less and less as you lvl. It becomes more and more important as people should strive to take their play to a higher lvl as they get better. And altho yes 1.5 plat is stupid, people should try and get a master if they see it for a good price. Ive seen master spells that cost less than there inferior Adept3 counterparts.

![]() Distorted visions has a 20% speed decrease at all levels. Summon shadows has 35%, Altered visions has 10%. Wizards have no invis without a speed decrease. Not at App1, not at Ma1.

Raising the level to Adept 1 makes it so higher level enemies can't see you. Frankly a few gold is worth more security IMO.
