There has been a lot of discussion about whether or not wizards have a problem solo-ing.  This is not another thread to discuss that.  This thread is for creative ideas that could help the wizard class solo.
 
Way before the release, when I was following the development of EQ2, I remember reading that they were aiming at giving classes solo buffs that used multiple concentration slots.  These abilities would help the class solo, but when grouped would be less efficient than other group based buffs that required concentration.
 
Barrier of the Magi
Requires 5 concentration.
Roots caster.
Significantly raises Mitigation of caster.
Significantly raises Avoidance of caster.
Continuously drains power of caster.  (power should drain roughly as fast as you can gain power via the skills like Essence Harvest that stun you)
-10 Disruption (lower's disruption by two levels)
 
Please post your ideas as well, and remember, this thread is not for discussing whether wizards have a problem soloing right now.  There are already many threads debating that topic.

Expeditious Arcana (self buff) Concentration Slots: 4 This personal buff lowers the casting time of all spells cast by 40%, rounded to the nearest half second. Minimum casting time for any spell is 1. -- Burning Chains (single target root) Casting Time: 2 Recast: 20 Durration: 30 Power Cost: 90 Roots a single target in place. Places a DoT on target: 25 to 60 damage every 5 seconds. Special: Burning Chain's DoT damage will not break the root effect, although casting other offencive spells might. (note: upped damage for the root spell's DoT. left the old way, forzen manicals could out damage it.)

SoulFire (self buff) Concentration Slots: 5 Durration: 15 minutes All spell cast use Health and not the Power pool to fuel spells. All spells cast are eresistable, although damage will still vary as normal. Spells cast this way also completely Bypasses immunities to an element (ie: Ice or Heat damage immunities).

Maelstrom (self buff) Concentration: 3 All DD spells cast have a 25% chance to effect the target criticaly, dealing double damage.
