Yesterday our guard was not here so i took over as maintank in lyceum, evrything worked ok and aggro was not a problem till we got to Vilucidae. But on vilucidae i had really big aggro problems (tried a few setups with amends on different aggro makers). Are there any things a pally can do hold aggro better on him? I think i had more resisted taunts than usually on lvl 74 mob, but i don't have any hard numbers for that so cannot say for sure.

Since the EoF Update he's a tough nut to crack. The best class to tank him is a guardian for a number of reasons, but thats for a different topic.

Things you can do to help you tank and hold aggro.

1) Obvious - Use sigil more

2) Make sure you have a Warden in the MT group...they give an increase to your aggression skills...same for the dirge class

3) Other amends class to put in......thats pretty tough to call anymore. Before it would have been simple with a brigand class. The problem is the first 25% of the fight is pretty much a ranged fight so if you can hold aggro thru that your good...the other problem is though you wanna kinda burn thru this % phase since thats when he goes berserk and does his massive damage spikes (this and the last 25%).

4) Check your gear. There are nice aggro generating gear that IS farmable in EoF if you are determined to get them.

5) Obvious - check your masters

6) Check your aa's - Technically you would probably do better going down the WIS line in KoS for tanking this (due to the aggression increase) but if you have a dirge and warden in your group you would reach the softcap anyways on aggression so this shouldn't be an issue.

7) MT group setup I would use....... paladin, dirge, Warden, Defiler, Templar, Bruiser (Bruiser would probably be best due to the first 25% aoe damage done and the fact they can heal themselves frequently...tough calll on the last spot like I stated earlier.

Use a guardian.

He's fixed, we took him down very easily (hadn't tried him since EoF came out), I think LoA took us a grand total of an hour and a half. But we had a guard tanking.

It's not strat based, I just read in the forums, that if you whiped on the first try, he gets bugged, and start stacking his stances, till he's pretty much imposible to kill, or hell hard to do it.

I have seen him with all the stances on him at once. We still beat him with all his stances on...its not impossible. If all his stances are on...just wait for him to reset (takes about 10 min) and take another stab.

Forgive me if i seem as a troll as an SK, but I still poke my head into the pally forum once in a while to see what my fellow crusaders are up to We have seen his stances get bugged after a wipe. Best thing to do is take an AFK and wait for a full reset. If he is in his last stance (thule?) at the start of the fight, agro will be all over the place and healers will be oom before he is down to 90%. It's that stance that he is suppose to go to at the last 25% but i don't remember its name. For MT group, I'd recommend a warden, defiler, templar, dirge, and coercer. The agro buffs from the dirge and coercer are especially helpful on this fight when he goes into his last stance. This doesnt give a big hate generator to put amends on, but the passive hate from the dirge and coercer shoud make up for it. This allows me as an SK to keep agro solidly until the very end where I may have to pop rescue/harm touch/death march to get it back.

Amends on the shammy is just fine for that fight since all the wards are most likey being fully used
Message Edited by PolarBear77 on 02-04-2007 10:41 PM
