<P>Every tank gets an ability like this, I call it an avoidance buff. Each class is a little different.</P> <P>It gives the target a second chance to avoid using your avoidance. It also gives you a little defense. </P> <P>Problem is it doesn't stack. If you have one on you from someone else you can't cast yours and vice versa.</P> <P>To use it:</P> <P>If you are the tank, don't cast it if there is another fighter in the group. Instead have him cast his version of this (their avoidance buff) on you. Especially true if it's a monk/bruiser because their avoidance buff rocks. If there is no other fighter in the group, cast it on whoever you think might get aggro.</P> <P>If you are not the tank, cast it on the tank, unless there is a monk/bruiser in the group because as stated before theirs rocks and yours will cancel his. </P> <P>Tell the tank when you do this not to cast his avoidance buff because it will cancel yours. He may say it gives him defense, but he'd rather have the second chance at avoidance.</P><p>Message Edited by DarthKerwin on <span class=date_text>01-25-2007</span> <span class=time_text>09:21 AM</span>

<P>I think that is what causes the confusion: is the chance to avoid better than the increased defense? At what % is it better?</P> <P>In raids, my role is support to the MT therefore I through on pledge. We've been talking about my resolute vs his, he always wants his because he sees the practical increase in his avoidance. With the chance to avoid there is nothing concrete visable in the their stats.</P>

<DIV>Can someone clarify how this spell actually works?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm assuming:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV>this is very rough, so correct my thinking if I'm wrong.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The guardian's avoidance is at 50% lets say.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My spell gives you a 56% chance to avoid.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My avoidance is say 50%.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Does this mean that 56% of the time you get anotherr 50% chance to avoid an attack?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thoughts?</DIV></DIV>

Hadn't I read once before that it's not X% of your total avoidance, but X% of your non-base (dodge) avoidance? Parses show "MOB tries to hit TANK, but OFFTANK blocks" or "...parries" or "...deflects", but never "...dodges".Other than that, I think it's correct.

<P>yeah, Ive never parsed out a fight to see if its just Parry/Block or if it includes base.</P> <P>However, looking at my FT parses, I stop about 10-15% of incoming melee damage on our MT with this buff (Mostly Block, only 1-2% Parry)</P> <P>W</P>

<DIV>In the guardian thread there is a response that describes the actual mechanics of how this works.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Basically, the tank gets three rolls to avoid the attack, each roll checking each of the three aspects of avoidance (parry then block then dodge), if all three of those fail, then you take the hit. If resolute faith is up, then you get another 3 rolls using the paly's parry, block then dodge. Depending on which of the three had the successful roll would depend on whether is says parry, block or dodge.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Read Bladewind's responses (there are two particularly), he really does describe it quite well, and shows that Resolute faith could be quite valuable to a MT, especially if the Paly is set up defensively to ward and heal, not dps. His numbers show almost triple avoidance gained if the paly uses his spell vs the guard using it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Link is:</DIV> <DIV><A href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=3&message.id=40934#M40934" target=_blank>http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=3&message.id=40934#M40934</A></DIV>
