<DIV>So...here I am at level 70 finally. I have always been wearing mastercrafted armour/jewellry etc. I've just started swapping some of my xegonite out with legendary but am a little confused. I'm not sure what type of stats I really should be looking for as there are now more options. I've really only ever worried about mit and str. So...what should I be looking for as I collect my stuff. How much do I need to worry about my str, agi, sta, mit etc stats? Should I be looking for equipment that increases my resists instead? Not sure how increases to my resists compares to increase to defence...all these numbers are kind of confusing to me right now <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Would appreciate some guidance from those in the know <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I guess I should also mention that I tank in groups most of the time with very little interest in raiding in the future...certainly never hard core. Thanks</DIV>

<div></div>At level 70, for a tank paladin:Once you get to 4000 mitigation, avoidance and hit points are the two most important factors for a tank.  Look for items with + to defense, parry, or block.  The stats you want are +AGI / avoidance, +STA, +HP, MITI, +STR, +INT, +POWER, +WIS in approximately that order.  Don't worry about resists unless its ridiculous improvement.  One nice thing about being a paladin is in defensive stance your resists are already huge due to your def stance wisdom.  You can keep resist gear around but I can't think of any instance where its useful.  Even in nizara fire resist is pretty lame.If you intend to tank I highly recommend you crawl STA and INT in KOS AA lines and get the hero final ability (+blocking) in EOF AA.Edit : its useful to get mitigation to ~5000, but not critical.  I added in MITI to the stats to reflect this.<div></div><p>Message Edited by khufure on <span class=date_text>01-15-2007</span> <span class=time_text>04:56 PM</span>

Thanks for the advice! So, something with a +3ish to defence is actually more beneficial to an item with say +300ish resists to a number of different types of damage? I guess this is where my ignorance lies. To me resist and defence kinda sound like the same thing...from what you are saying, resists contribute very little to big picture unless super high...like say +600ish. I actually just respeced my aa kos lines yesterday and put what i needed into str line to get the +10% hate gain and then rest into my sta line. nice boost to my HP...will see how it all works when i strap on the shield and sword and go tanking <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>I'm not 100% on how the entire thing works, but this I do know. +defense/parry/block and a higher rating on your sheild will increase your chance to avoid an attack. +vs crushing/peircing/slashing will reduce the damage you take from those types of damage if the attack hits. Mitigation reduces physical damage taken by successful attacks for all physical damage types (crush/slash/pierce)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>PLEASE NOTE: A better sheild rating will NOT repeat, NOT increase your mitigation, it increases avoidance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>+AGI increase your avoidance chance, +STA increases hitpoints. ALL other stats have no effect on your ability to take hits (possible exception on WIS for spell resists, See below)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for spell damage, no one so far has been able to tell me if it's your WIS that lets you resist a spell out-right, or if its your resistance (mitigation) for that particular element. Now obviously you would want to get everything as high as possible, but gear choices would be alot easier if someone could tell me if spell resists are checked against WIS or individual resists. (Note: I know that the damage you take is reduced by resists, I'm talking about a full resist, where the spell bounces and doesn't do ANYTHING)</DIV>

Spell damage reduction is calculated with resis, the full resist of a spell by wis<div></div>
