Help with amends?

What are these "amends" ppl keep talking about?What do they do?When does a paladin get the amends?You need any expansion or something to get it?Help please <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<P>Amends is your best friend if you like to tank......it (at adept3) transfers 39% hate from what ever target you cast it on to you. </P> <P> </P> <P>So in short it helps you hold agro...ex: say you have a uber monk, or better yet a wizzy in group. I think it is more that the earlier versions are so useless that until you get amends adpIII or MI, it really doesn't show its usefulness.  I know I didn't use it until I was in my late 50s either, but pulling off 19% of the hate is ok, but it isn't going to slow down someone pulling agro off of you.  41% on the other hand (the M1 version, I think) WILL help you emminsely <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<P>don't forget... this spell has gone through it's share of being buggy.  It only been in the last year or so that this has worked as intended.</P> <P>I laugh at those who state "I didn't find this until".  I will often open up an ability and reread it just to remember what it all does... and often find that I forget or didn't know there were added benefits.  Good example is our single taunt... looked at it the other night and was reminded that it works like a dot... errr.... tot I guess... I knew, but forgot.  Same with our shield bash, I knew it stunned, forgot it is one of our best agro generators/taunts we have :smileywink:</P>

<P>I have the strangest feeling, amends didn't exist until CU13 and DoF. The group str buff had a siphon group hate component a whacking 3% iirc. Is why I vaguely remember a time before amends, and only really seeing it after I was 50, why probably many of you only remember it in you 50's.</P> <P>But then I'm erm old...</P>

I wouldn't know about that...  I was only 22 before LU13 came along (I had quit about 6 months in for a long break, so wasn't here for LU13)

Really? Wow. I don't remember anything before Amends. I had thought the others came later as part of their prep for removing all the "fighter" and "crusader" stuff and making people run with one class all the way from their creation. (Just like we didn't have the group heals and things like that at as low a level as we do now). I dunno. I started playing at game release, too, so it's been a long time since I was there. remember, you can also switch your amends target while fighting too, so if you got someone who is a heavy hitter of the bat, you can amend them, then switch off to a long runner after that.  Get the best of both worlds.
